                            Part Six

Holly was about to give birth.

Shane couldn't believe it, her friend was about to give birth to a baby boy in just a few minutes. She was happy, happy that Holly finally found her little joy. Shane watched Red across the room, his hair tousled as he ran his fingers through the strands.

She suddenly had the urge to comfort him, tell him that everything's going to be okay. That Holly would be okay and their little baby boy would be too, well, that was what she had been telling herself lately as if to convince herself more.

It seemed like Red finally took the time to absorb everything about her and Finnick, that they were actually together. It had taken time then, for her heart to heal. She still love Red, but it had become like a real best friend love now. Shane had realized that perhaps, Finnick was actually her future.

The doctor emerged from the double doors, interrupting Shane's thoughts. The doctor looked slightly tired, his lips lined in a grim line. He looked up and saw us, and smiled ruefully.

Red and Shane stood up quickly, so eager to know about what happened to Holly and her son. "How is she, Doc? How's the baby?" it was Shane who spoke first, and she caught a glimpse of Red looking at her in the corner of her eyes.

"Do not worry, she's fine and the baby's fine. Though, it's not a baby boy." he said, adjusting his black-rimmed glasses.

"How can that be? The ultrasound, it showed a baby boy" Red spoke, his voie a little hoarse.

The doctor shook his head, "No, it was wrong. It's a baby girl" She released the breath she didn't realized she was holding, trying to calm the pounding of my heart.

"You both can go and see her and your daughter," the doctor said to Red, nodding his head to the left side of the hallway. "She's resting, but I'm sure she'll like some company"

They nodded in unison, but Shane didn't made an attempt to move. The doctor left us to do some things, while Red started to walk towards the room Holly and his daughter were confined in.

"Coming?" he asked, looking over his shoulder to look at me. She nodded, not trusting her voice to speak.

Shane opened the door, and found Holly lying on the matress. She looked exhausted, fatigue was clearly shown on her beautiful face. In her arms, a little creature was wrapped with bundles of fabric, making the little girl look like a cocoon.

As if sensing she was being watched, Holly opened her eyes and smiled at me. "Come and see her" she said, her smile lit up a hundred watts. Shane's feet felt heavy all of the sudden as she took a step towards her, her tongue glued at the top of her mouth.

She sat beside Holly, looking down at the little baby in her friend's arms. "May I? she asked, holding her arms out.

"Sure," Holly held her arms out and Shane took the baby from her. The little girl weigh a little more than she had thought.

"She's beautiful," Shane whispered, stroking the baby's soft, pink cheeks with her thumb. "What are you going to name her?"

"We haven't decided yet" Holly answered, staring down at her baby. "Maybe Shannon?" she continued.

"It's a wonderful name, shall we call her Shannon?" Red asked, making Shane jumped a little. She completely forgot about Red.

"We shall," his wife said, smiling again. "Do you know why I came up with Shannon?" this question was directed to her, Shane shook her head. "I got her name Shannon because it reminds me of you. I wanted Shannon to grow up just like you, Shane. Brave, pretty and never afraid to go after the things she want"

Shane didn't know what to say, so instead she smiled and held little Shannon in her arms until she no longer could.
