The Relic

Immediately after Aphmau passed out from healing Dante, we were all rushed out by Zoey in order for Aphmau to have some space. Dante had his objections, preferring to stay by her side to ensure that she was okay, but after a bit of... negotiating... and maybe some fine dragging, he finally settled to standing and waiting outside with Laurance, Katelyn, and me.

The others decided to try discussing then situation to piece together just what the fuck happened while I leaned against one of the trees outside. I'd attempt listening in here and there, but it wasn't all that interesting to hear their conspiracy theories. I even found myself dozing off altogether until a hand slammed itself close to my head against the tree. My want to sleep was suddenly thwarted by my sudden rouse in awareness. My eyes seemed to pop open immediately, foot moving to trip the perpetrator off of me until I realized that it was just Laurance and that I couldn't really move my feet with him having them pinned.

"How dare you kabedon me? I don't think Aphmau would be happy to see her courter-"

"You know what's going on, don't you? Is this what Zane was talking about?" His tone toppled with the implications of his statement seemed to halt my voice, my remark to the situation getting stuck in my throat. My breathing seem to slow with time as that moment replayed in my head.

"You haven't told them, have you?"

'Don't sink into that setup. You'll break'  The voice from before woke me from my flashbacks, bringing me back to the situation before me. I grit my teeth up at him, attempting to push him off only for his grip to get tighter.

"Laurance, you don't know what you're talking about-" I try, my back being slammed back against the tree bark. I wince, an almost intelligible whimper leaving my throat. I glance to the side to see Katelyn and Dante to shocked at the situation to move, causing me to curse under my breathe, "Laurence, get the fuck off of me-"

"You know what just happened to Aphmau and it has something to do with Zane, right? Is that guy who gave you that chest also involved" He leans in closer to me, growling with his words, "The shadow knight guy, right? You two are obviously close and I guess Aphmau is apart of your sick scheme"

He sounded so damn stupid with his accusations and his grip on me was not letting up in the slightest. I try getting more space between us, but that proves to be a little difficult. He had to have been on his shadow knight period, because my goodness was he being really abrasive. He stares at me expectantly, my answer caught in my windpipes for awhile, "It's more complicated than that, Laurence. Why would I-"

"I read the note, (Y/n). I remember what Zane said" He leans in closer, his breath fanning against my lips. My cheeks flush a bit at how close our proximity really was, my eyes jumping from his blue eyes to his really close lips, "What's going on here?"

"(Y/n), I do love you" He held me pinned to the ground, his body towering over mine. I had been giggling as we rolled down the hill, but once I looked up into his green eye, I stopped. He rests his head in the crook of my neck, taking in a deep breathe before releasing it and moving back to towering over me. his lips brush over mine for a moment before he pulls away, quietly laughing to himself as he gets off of me and helps me up, pulling me into a hug I could only greedily accept, "I promise I'm still the same, shadow knight and all, and I still plan on protecting you"

Laurance seems to be the only thing in the world for a moment, his smell filling the air and being so intoxicating. We were breathing each other for a moment before someone finally clears their throat. We both turn to see Zoey there, cheeks slightly red and eyes anywhere but us. Dante and Katelyn were gone already. Laurance pulls away from me, glaring in my direction before walking past Zoey to get to Aphmau. I try to calm my breathing, hand over my chest before I push off the tree and walk alongside Zoey.
