I sighed, sick of being in the car, "Mom how much longer?"

Mom laughed, she was enjoying my misery, "Probably around 5 minutes."

I smiled, I had figured we would have another hour to go.

Mom sighed, "Well this is a tiny town."

I rolled my eyes, "Yup." I stated popping the 'p'.

Mom suddenly had tears in her eyes, I thought that maybe I should ask to see if she was okay but then decided it would be better to just not ask about it.

Mom wiped her tears, "Nora I'm so sorry that you have to go through this."

I faked her a smile, "I'm okay."

I lied. I know that I'm not okay. My dad was killed in a car accident and now we are moving far away from my only friends. How in the world could I still be okay after all I've been through this month?

I'm not.

Mom broke the silence, "We are almost there!" She sang in a sing-song voice.

I chucked, Mom always tries to be strong in the hardest times. Even when everyone knows that she's not alright.

We pulled into the driveway of a blue house. It was smaller than the one we had back home and the yard looked kind of overflowed with stuff that wasn't needed.

A women with crazy dark black curls ran out of the house. Mom opened the car door and hopped out, meeting who I'm guessing is aunt Ollie in a tight hug.

A little girl ran out of the house over to the car door, I opened it.

"Hello, I'm Nora."

She smiled, showing her missing two front teeth, "Hi I'm Alison, it nice to meet you Nora."

Alison pulled me out of the car, she giggled, "Come on, do you want to see my room now!"

I smiled at her, "Sure."

Alison dragged me by hand to the inside of house. She let go of it to open the door.

My mouth dropped.

The inside of the house was an absolute mess. I've never seen anything more disgusting in my life. How do these people live like this?

The living room was filled with people.

Alison shut the door behind her. She had a huge grin on her face, "Guys this is Nora."

"Hello I'm Abbey." A girl with tight brown curls said as she put down a young toddler who I'm assuming is Caleb.

She got off the couch and walked up to me, "Do you need any help carrying in your bags?"

I gulped, overwhelmed at the moment, "Uhhh, yeah, I mean sure."

She giggled at my awkwardness and walked out the door. I followed her.

Once aunt Ollie saw us walk back outside she ran up to me. "Oh my, you have sure grown up baby Nora!"

I smiled, it has been 11 years since I'd last saw aunt Ollie. "Thanks aunt Ollie." I said with a smile.

She ran her fingers through my hair, "Well I'll be darned, everyone in this family has dark curly hair but you miss blond locks!"
