Along with being a sucky permanent inconvenience, diabetes leaves you with scars. Try to think of them as battle scars, and they might not seem so ugly. Back when I was giving injections, I'd constantly have bruises from injecting in the same place too often. One time I had a huge scrape going down my leg from when a friend tripped over me as I was injecting. She didn't mean to, and she felt absolutely awful afterwards. I certainly don't hold it against her.
I've also got at least three large indentations on one of my legs. They are also from injecting too often in the same place, and they're permanent. Unless I want to get plastic surgery.
A diabetic's fingers also have permanent holes in them from finger pokes. I had my fingerprints taken once, just for fun, when I was about eleven or twelve. There were clear white dots, breaks in the ink, from finger poke scars. My dad said it just made my fingerprints even more unique. And he's right, you know. For those diabetics who are ashamed of their scars and try to cover them up- don't be! Do you even know how badass they are? They're battle scars!
