There are lots of ways for diabetics to stay connected to each other. I went to a really awesome diabetes camp a few years ago, and if you ever think that you're alone in your diabetic struggles, these camps show you that you're not.
You meet all kinds of people, and they all have one thing in common- their diabetes. You'll meet sporty girls and guys, as well as diabetics who are obsessed with reading and writing and fandoms. It was thanks to some friends at my diabetes camp that I decided to watch both Supernatural and Doctor Who.
I still keep in touch today with my friend Anna, although we live far away from each other. She's a totally amazing Superwholock and book nerd like me. (Anna, if you ever find this, you're amazing, girly! I've changed your name but I'm assuming you'll know who you are.)
I'm not much of a camper myself, but I wouldn't change that experience for the world. Being surrounded by girls and guys who understand you, who don't judge you for your diabetes because they have it too, and the diabetic inside jokes... It was, in a word, amazing. If you can't attend one of these incredible camps or just want a diabetic friend, feel free to reach out to me. You can always contact me through Wattpad and if you want to stay in touch, I'll give you my email, too.
