Contrary to what Nikolai had thought, you were indeed alive. The next morning after Nikolai and Clara's talk, you woke up to a terrible pain in your arms and legs. You tried to sit up, but the pain caused you to cry out. You lay back down and tried not to cry. Clara had heard you, though. She went over to the bars of her cell and looked over at you.
"How do you feel, (Y/N)? You didn't wake up after training last night, so we were worried about you."
"I have never felt this much pain before in my life, and I have had a child. That should be the most painful thing in my life, not the way I feel now." You tried again to sit up and succeeded. You then slowly stood up and went over to the bars. Your arms and legs were shaking because of how weak they were.
"Well, it's good to see that you can get up on your own. After my first day of training, I couldn't move at all. They had to send guards in to help me up."
"That sounds terrible, Clara." Clara shrugged her shoulders. She than looked in front of her, into Nikolai's cell and told him good morning. He reciprocated the greeting and asked how you were.
"Nikolai would like to know how you are doing. He was quite concerned about your condition last night. He thought you were dead." you could hear Nikolai grumbling in the next cell over. That statement the night before had been meant to be confidential. Clara just chuckled at him and scolded him for being so annoyed.
"Tell him that I feel fine. I'm a little sore, but other than that, I'm good." Clara told him, and he nodded his head. You heard the now familiar noise of the door to your right. It opened and Pierce and two guards leading a man entered the hallway. They opened up the door to the cell across from you and threw him in. He fell to his hands and knees. You noticed that he was black. The guards closed the door and left the hallway Pierce turned to you.
"Good morning, Winter. How are you feeling?"
"Terrible. I could almost not get up because of how sore I am." Pierce frowned.
"I'm sorry to hear that, but since you feel that way, there will be no training today. We need you to be in tip top condition. Get some rest, Winter. This will be your only break." He left the hall, and the door closed. You looked over at the man across from you. He appeared to be about your age. He was sitting on the floor with his back to you.
"Excuse me, sir?" He turned around to look at you. "Are you ok? Do you speak English?" He sighed and nodded his head. He then stood up and walked over to the bars. "What is your name?"
"Gabe Jones, Ma'am. And you?"
"(Y\N) Barnes. Pleased to meet you." He looked confused.
"Are you related to a Bucky Barnes?" You were surprised at the mention of your husband's name.
"He is my husband. Why? Do you know him? " Gabe laughed.
"Know him? I worked with him during the war! Did you ever hear about Captain America's famous Howling Commandos?" you nodded your head.
"Bucky wrote me about working with Steve in that way."
"Well, I was one of them as well. Gee, I sure do miss Dugan, Monty, and Frenchie. They were great guys, and we all loved working with Captain Rogers. Cap was a great man. So was your husband. By now I'm guessing that you know what happened to your husband? Gosh, I was on the train when it happened. I'm awfully sorry about what happened, ma'am." you smiled at him.
(Gabe)
"Gabe, my husband survived the fall from the train just like Steve survived the airplane crash. They are both alive and well just like me. The serums kept them and myself alive. You see, Hydra kidnapped my husband and turned him into a killer. They gave him an injection like Shield did to Steve. It kept them alive for all that time. They also injected me, and I was with Steve, frozen in the plane for those 70 years. I was pregnant at the time, and a while after I came to, I successfully gave birth to a 70 year old man. While he is really 70, our son James appears to be like a normal toddler. It really is remarkable."
"You named him James? In the Commandos there were 3 men named James, including your husband. That is one of the reasons we had codenames."
"So if you fought against Hydra with Bucky and Steve, how are you here?" he chuckled.
"I was on that train with Cap and Bucky. They took Cap and I prisoner at the Hydra base after they caught us. Cap got rescued, but I was left behind. I was just glad to hear that everyone else got out safe. I took one for the team. They put me in some kind of a deep freeze for people. I guess that they finally decided to unfreeze me."
"I don't understand why they would have unfrozen you now. They told us that Nikolai, Clara, and I are a part of a team called The Three. We also have codenames which are Second Sight, Snapdragon, and Winter's Bride respectively. Did they ever give you a code name?"
"They never gave me one that I know of. I just wish to know why they froze me in the first place. I was engaged. I assume that she is probably dead now. I haven't seen her in 70 years. I guess you know how that feels too." You nodded your head.
"I know exactly the feeling. Who was your fiancé?"
"(Y\B\F\N) (Y\B\F\L\N). She was the love of my life. She was from Brooklyn. Weren't you and Bucky from Brooklyn?"
"You were going to marry (Y\B\F\N)? She was my best friend! We lived across the hall from each other in our apartment building in Brooklyn. How did you two meet?"
"She became a USO dancer. I met her when she stayed at the camp after Cap came to rescue those of us who had been captured. She then started to work as a nurse. Everyone always loved her. She would make them laugh and take their mind off of their pain. When I went in for a physical after returning to the camp, I met her for the first time."
"I can't believe that you two were a couple. I had been trying to figure out what had happened to her for a while now. A friend of mine, doctor Bruce Banner, tracked her information down for me, but I never got a chance to look at it. I wish that I would have. I could have seen if she is still alive."
"Don't worry about it. Is there anyway to get out of here?"
"Not that the three of us have been able to find."
"I miss having Frenchie around. He was great with explosives. He could have blown the walls apart." Just then Alexander Pierce entered the hallway with two guards. They unlocked your cell's door and led you out.
"You're going to help us, Winter, but first, you are going to talk to your husband."
