"Yes, she is alive, Nikolai."

(Why hasn't she woken up yet? It has been hours since training finished.) Clara shrugged her shoulders.

"It was her first day of training. I was worn out after my first day all those years ago." Clara sighed.

(Don't be sad, my flower. We'll get out of here someday. Until then we must grin and bear it.) Clara blushed when he called her his flower. (Where do you want to first when we get out?)

"I have always wanted to go to Poland and Switzerland, oh, and Russia. I always would hear so much about Russia when I was young. My parents would tell me about where they met, where they grew up, and the village where I was born."

(You never told me that you were born in Russia too. Why didn't you tell me this before? Which village were you born in?).

"Bugulma. I never wanted to bring Russia up in conversation around you. Since you were taken from there so suddenly, I didn't want to force you into talking about anything that you found sad, like family or friends..." Nikolai gave a small laugh.

(I had no one in my homeland. If only I had hidden harder and not gone back to the home where I was born. I could have escaped from HYDRA once and for all, but the whole thing hasn't been too bad.)

"What do you mean it hasn't been too bad? You are locked in a cell, Nik. I think there must be something in the food messing with your head. Nothing good has come out of us being here."

(That isn't true. It caused us to meet, and if this has to be the way that we have met, I wouldn't change a thing. I will do whatever I can to make sure that our captors never hurt you. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if anything would happen. You are my delicate flower, and I will let no one take you away from me.) Clara blushed a deeper red.

"And you are my Прицел (Sight). I can't wait to get out of here."

(I will take you to your village.)

"Nikolai, I don't even know of anyone who lives there. It isn't truly my village."

(That isn't true. You may have family that is living there. You shouldn't avoid going because your parents never got to return. Your parents are always with you. While they may seem as though they aren't, they are with you constantly, and with your help, they can return to their homeland with you.) Clara smiled at him and stood up from where she had been sitting on the ground in her cell.

"It never fails to amaze me how positive you can be when we are in such a horrible situation. You are always so positive. How do you do it?"

(It is difficult some days. There are days when I wake up, and I am sore to the point of crying out in pain, but I don't. I always look over and see you. Sometimes your face is scrunched up in pain, and I am afraid that if I make my pain known, it will wake you up and feel your pain for a longer period of time. Instead, I focus on a plan of escape.) Clara sighed.

"I need to remember that next time that I'm in pain. I never bring it up to you since I don't know what they do to you. For all I know, your training could be worse than mine. The worst pain for me though is my wrists. They have marks on them where the metal of these canisters has rubbed against them. I have seen dried blood on my wrists before. They sting so badly some days that I wish I could just cut them off." Clara slowly started to walk to the back if her cell. Nikolai jumped up and grasped the bars of the cell door in his hands.

(Why did you never tell me?) Nikolai was very obviously upset.

"There is nothing you could have done for me. You have no way of helping me while we are in these cells. I appreciate the thought, Nik, but there is nothing you can do." You stirred in your sleep. "I hope that she won't have to go through too much torment. Her poor husband can't remember anything since the 40s, and they have a son. It is a terrible situation for all three of them."

(If I know those Americans, they will be planning a rescue mission for her very soon. No husband, no matter what state his is in, would ever leave his wife in such a dangerous situation as this. I would so as such.) Clara smiled over at Nikolai and walked back over to the bars.

They stood there gazing at each other silently for a few moments. While it had never specifically stated, Nikolai and Clara were in love with each other. Having been there with each other for the past few months (the length of time Clara had been out of the cryofreeze), they knew a lot about each other. They both knew the other's weaknesses and faults, but also they knew each other's strengths and skills. They both said goodnight to each other and went to their respective cots. Neither if them went to sleep very quickly, though. They stayed awake thinking of the future which they both hoped to share.
