My name is Erin Hindley. I am 22 years old, and simply the luckiest girl in the world. Why, you may ask? Kyle. My little brother, Kyle. What can I say? He's amazing. He's cute, he's funny, he's extremely smart, and he's an amazing brother. I'm so lucky to still have him in my life.
Last year, my mother...she died. She was suffering from brest cancer for the longest time, and...the cancer won. Kyle was almost put up for adoption. You see, we didn't have a dad to go to. Our dad was sentenced to life in prison before I was even born. My mom never told me what exactly he did, but it had to have been terrible. No parole, no visitors, and he's never getting released. Therefore, Kyle was going to be sent to a foster home, but I wasn't going to let that happen. It took lots of begging, and lost of convincing that I was mature, but I got custody of Kyle.
Every kid has an obsession. For a lot of kids Kyle's age, it would be cars or sports or robots or something. Kyle is different, though. His obsession is a band. A band called Green Day. Yes, they do use lots of profanity, but I let the kid live his life, ya know? He's not going to be young forever. Heck, he's going to be 11 really soon. That kid is growing up so fast. But yeah, I don't mind when he listens to this kind of stuff. Just as long as he doesn't repeat the foul language. And he actually does well with that rule.
When I say Kyle has an obsession with Green Day, I mean a full on obsession. He's not just a fan. I'd honestly call him a #1 fan. Every morning he sits infront of the T.V. with his cereal, with M.T.V on, waiting for them to play a Green Day song. He has all three of their CDs, and lots of their shirts. It's funny because the Green Day audience isn't exactly Kyle's age, so we get him the smallest shirts we can find, and they're still big on him. He doesn't mind, though. It's pretty cute. Gosh, I make it sound like he's 6. He doesn't seem care, though.
I, myself don't listen to Green Day a lot. Well, I kind of have no way out of it since it's all over the house, but I don't listen to them on my free time much. No, they're not terrible. They've got some pretty neat tunes, but I don't know. There are some songs I like though. Kyle's absolute favorite Green Day song is from their new album, Dookie. It's called Longview. Since I play bass, he made me learn the bassline to that song. I must say, it's a pretty wicked song.
He will literally run around the house and sing it. Once, I even got a video of him in the bathroom singing that song in the mirror. He had his shirt off, and his blonde hair spiked up, and he drew on his arms with marker, which I'm guessing was supposed to be tattoos. I guess he was trying to look like them. It was amazing. He was even singing into a comb. I'm proud of him. Even though he knows that I don't mind, he still doesn't say the cuss words when singing Green Day.
He's such a cute kid. He definitely looks like me. Dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes, with a few freckles running across his nose and cheeks.
Sometimes people mistake him for my son. I assume that we look like our dad because the only features we share with our mom is the delicate nose, full eyebrows and long eyelashes.
Since Kyle's 11th birthday is coming up, I've been thinking about a present for him. I'm positive I've found the perfect one.
