Chapter 1

Authors note- This is when shizuka is 6 and she discovers her power c:

*Shizuka's POV*

Yawning slightly I pulled my stained covered sheets away from me and hopped out of bed. It was early in the morning so it was still slightly dark or maybe because the windows where boarded up? Either way it was pretty dark. It was my chance to eat something that I want for once so I was going to take it. I opened the fridge slightly and grabbed some strawberry jam. I also got some delicious peanut butter and bread and put them together. This was the only thing I knew how to make and I was going to enjoy it. I just LOVE these. They're delicious and I would do anything for them. Hence why I woke up so early. I giggled softly and took another bite of my own personal heaven. I savored every bite and quickly went back to my room.

Pulling out pieces of paper I grabbed my only crayon box. I was in the mood for coloring so I doodled to my hearts content. I moved my hands around giddily and was surprised at what happened. Little shadows appeared and helped me draw! They even danced when I told them too and braided my hair. I felt like they where puppets and they where ready for any command. There where two walking alongside each other and I commanded one to do something. "Strangle your friend." I looked curiously as one jumped on the other and it strangled it's friend to death I guess. After it died it floated away into thin air. I clapped in joy. "Do it again. Do it again!" I guess I told it to do that because I was watching the news and it reported a crime where a girl was strangled to death and was left in an alleyway. I didn't know what it meant and decided to learn myself.

I was bored at the same thing over and over again so I asked it a question. "Do you want to have a tea party with me?" They all looked up at me and drifted into one whole shadow. It morphed into a little girl like me and sat in a chair with it's hands folded on it's lap. I smiled excitedly and opened a little box next to me. I set all the tea cups and watched curiously as it grabbed the little kettle and poured tea into her cup. I smiled slightly as she made it more realistic and used her shadow to make it look like water was pouring out. I smiled and asked her another question. "D-Do you wanna be my friend?" I looked away slightly but still saw that she nodded her head. I jumped in joy and tried to hug her, but only went through her. Stumbling slightly I turned back at her to see a saddened face. "Awwww, don't cry. Mommy and daddy don't like it when I cry so you shouldn't. Pretty please?" I gave her my pouty lips and she sucked it up. I giggled and gave her a fake hug and danced around her. She looked surprised and laughed with me, but it was a deep throaty chuckle. (More like demonic chuckle lol) I looked at her in surprise at how loud it was but shrugged it off. Forgetting that mommy and daddy where still sleeping at this time.

I sat back down and doodled another drawing, but this one was special. I made it for my new friend! In bold letters at the top of her it spelled shadow and for me I spelled shizuka. I lifted the paper and pointed to her. "Your name is shadow, cause you look like a shadow." I giggled at her little smile and moved the paper towards her so she could see it. She looked down at the drawing and pointed to herself. I giggled and nodded to her. "I here by declare your name is shadow!" I said in a stern voice but ended up laughing at the end. Shadow found it funny and giggled, but stopped suddenly as a loud banging hit the door. I stood up quickly and ran to my bed. Shadow knew what was going on and disappeared quickly. A few moments later the door was slammed open and I quickly covered myself in blankets. "What the hell is going on this early in the morning?!" Daddy screamed at me. I shivered at his tone of voice and buried myself deeper into my blankets.

The quick tapping of steps could be herd before my blanket was suddenly pulled away from me. I looked up quickly and a moment later my face was shoved into my pillow. I was terrified for my life. I struggled but to no vail and gasped for breath as daddy let go of my head. "Why the hell did you wake me up?" He said calmly. I looked away quickly and mumbled my answer. Dad grabbed my shirt and pulled me off my bed and onto the floor. "Why the hell did you wake me up at 5 in the morning?" He looked down at me. I kept my mouth shut and looked away.

He kicked me.

I cringed at the pain but I kept my mouth shut. He kept kicking and kicking. It was so painful, but I wanted to keep my secret, my quirk. After what felt like forever he stopped suddenly and walked away. I could hear a clicking sound on my door. He locked it. I cried silently and stumbled to my bed. It was painful to move but I didn't want to sleep on the floor. I silently stared at the ceiling and watched as shadow reappeared and sat next to my bed looking at me in worry. I smiled slightly and mumbled "It's okay I'm fine, see?" and lifted my arm and wiggled it around. She looked relieved and silently sat up and covered me in my blankets. I smiled slightly and waved her away. She turned away and glided to the corner of my room and sat in the shadow's. I giggled at the irony. She completely blended in! Except for her eyes though, it was a whitish grey and glowed in the shadows. I mumbled a goodnight and closed my eyes, even though I didn't fall asleep I knew it made her happy that I was 'Okay' so I did it anyways. It makes me happy that she is happy but I was in too much pain to fall asleep.

Dad didn't open the door for the whole day. He opened it silently in the middle of the night and left after. I was glad it was open in the morning cause I was really dehydrated. I learned that word on television. Too pass my time I watch adult shows on the tv like the news and sometimes sees mom and dad on television! I also learned that word while watching tv. I usually watched horror movies but they got boring so I watch the news all the time now. I'd spend all day watching the screen. Shadow says it's not healthy for me to stare at a screen all day. What else am I supposed to do all day? I'm not allowed to go outside so it's boring without doing anything.

Shadow teaches me many things. Shadow is so smart. She's like a teacher to be honest. She would be a great teacher I tell you. I always tell her this and it makes her smile. Shadow is the bestest friend ever. Even if she is just my quirk... She's still my friend, right?
