Moving Day (unedited)

We arrive 2 days later, at the doorstep of the administration office at High York University in Santa Monica, California, USA.

I step out from my air conditioned car with my car keys to stretch my legs.

"Finally! We are here!" I yawn greatly as Rebecca finally pulls into the lot and parks a few spaces away from me.

Her car goes silent as the door is opened. "Look at the office!" She gapped, her eyes taking in the floor to ceiling windows that created the admissions office for High York University.

It's only been open for half a year and there are already students attending their first years here.

Half of the courses started back in January while the rest start now in July.

"This already looks so posh! I can't believe we got accepted here." I cried out, smiling brightly as Rebecca and I walked up to the sliding glass doors.

"Hell yeah! We deserve it!" Rebecca chided as we entered.

We walk through, getting a chill of A/C as we head towards a lady behind a granite desk.

"Hi! Welcome to High York University! I am Mrs. Blake, how may I help you today?" The woman asked, her voice full of giddiness.

"Hi! I am Rebecca Shilks, and I'm here for my room keys and schedule?" Rebecca asked professionally, looking at them woman head on but smiling brightly back at her.

"Of course, just give me one second and I'll get that right for you." She stood up and walked to a box of files for all of the new students.
Her fingers moved quickly, going to the "S" section and finding Rebecca's file.

"Ah ha! Here you go, sweetie. You are in the Girls Dorm, Level 3, Room 179, a double vacancy and your schedule is right there in the file with two door keys."

The file slid right to Rebecca's hand and she caught it before it would drop to the floor.

"Thank you." She replied curtly before moving out of the way so that I could receive my file and room key.

"I'm Nicole O'Brian, I'm also here for my room key and schedule?" My voice hitched at the end, making it sound like a was asking a question.

Mrs. Blake laughed before flipping through the box again. She froze at the beginning of the "P" section before going over the "O" section once again.

"I have seen to have misplaced your file, give me one moment and I'll double check the Boy's box." She turned her attention away from me and to the blue box beside the Girl's box, searching for my lone file.

She sighed a heavy sigh of relief when my file appeared in her hands. She flipped up the cover and skimmed over the details of my room.

"Miss. O'Brian. I'm sorry to say, but you aren't in the Girl's Dorm at all."

My mouth slacked at her words. "Bu-but that can't be! I have to be there! I certainly can't be with those egotistical boys." I panicked, Rebecca looked at me with wide eyes.

"Well we have special arrangements for you, it seems like honey." She announced, her eyes training on the words in my file.

"Where is my room then Mrs. Blake?" I asked warily, worried I'll be sleeping in the boy's dorm.

"Don't worry, it isn't in the boy's dorm!" I let a sigh of relief out. "It's actually not in any dorm buildings at all." She exclaims, confusion written on both of our faces.
