Do I Remember Now? (Unedited)
Classes finally ended probably a half hour ago, and I'm sat in the Starbucks on campus sipping my usual frappachino. It's actually a Grande Caramel frapp, but during the holidays my go to drink if the Peppermint Mocha frapp because ITS SO GOOD.
Holy fuck. I could drink both of those forever and never get tired of them.
I heard the bell jingle behind me (my back was facing door) and I watched the figures pass by without even a second glance as I tapped my fingers on my page work to the sound of the beat behind the song pulsing quietly through my earbuds.
"I didn't suspect you were a coffee person, sweetheart." A voice said behind me. I didn't turn because I still wasn't really sure who it was, and I continued to work on my papers.
I scribbled down my idea onto my page as I ignored the stranger before hearing the scraping of the chair across from me at my table.
I mentally rolled my eyes are the nerve of this guy. My eyes flickered up to the screen of my laptop in front of me, before dropping my gaze back onto my page as I continued to scribble down the answer to the question my laptop held.
The guy started to tap on the back of the computer. The noise could be heard over the beat of my quiet music. At some point he must've pushed my laptop closed because my music cut out from in my ear buds and the light off my screen was diminished.
I look up annoyed at the person still sitting across from me, but with a coffee in his hand.
"You finally decide to look up at me." His cocky smirk and voice carried through my headphones. I stayed silent, glaring daggers at this asshole who was sipping his coffee calming across from me.
I grabbed the melting frappachino beside me and made the loudest sound I think I could've done in a semi-quiet coffee shop.
"SSSLLLLUUURRRPPP"
I swallowed the sugary, cool coffee, still staring at the guy.
"I only looked up because you closed my project summary page that I was working on." I stated, unblinking over at the cocky face of my roommate.
"Well Wes.. You can kindly fuck off because as I just told you, I'm trying to do my work before you showed up." I huffed quietly.
He sighed, his smirk falling off his face before coming back when he opened his eyes. " Can't do that babe."
I never saw that his eyes were brown. Such a nice brown too.
BRAIN. WTF ARE YOU DOING! WE DON'T CARE FOR HIM, HE IS JUST A BIG ASSHAT AND WE CAN FIND SOMEONE BETTER THAN HIM!
I shook my head to clear my thoughts, but I guess he took its meaning a different way.
"Well. I'm just going to sit here and bug you until you actually hold a conversation with me." He continued to play with the little green plastic thing that goes into the hole of the lid.
I sigh as he starts to tap it on the table beside his coffee cup and he continued to look over at me.
I pull my laptop towards me and shove it into the laptop bag on the chair next to mine, before gathering all of my pages and putting them into the anime divider and back into the bag.
I stood slowly, circling the table with my bag, iPhone and coffee in hands as I walked out of the coffee shop and back towards the main campus.
A few moments or even minutes later, I hear someone calling after me. The foot steps behind me were heavy and choppy, basically it was someone running.
Wes finally got a hold of my elbow and pulled me back when I was just about to take another step away from him.
"Nicole, sweetheart, why did you leave?" He panted. Mr. I Work Out Everyday got tired after running after a small girl.
"I left because I need to get work done! But you HAD to come a disturb me when I was half way done the assignment." I hissed at him, ripping my arm away from his grasp and continued walking away.
I heard him sigh defeated, and I knew I shouldn't have turned back to see him. But I did.
His face was downturn, the messy locks fell in turn. Shoulders turned in and my brain
clicked.
My mind flickered back to day back home, It couldn't be him. NO. NOT WES!
