Writing Tip #3

I find it easier to start writing with a genre you are most familiar with than to try and write in a genre that you're not familiar with. At least not when you're first starting out.

Go with the genre you like to read, you might get ideas using things you've already read, just don't plagiarize and use their ideas. Think of it as a foundation.

You can also use ideas from several books to build your foundation, but always add your own twists and build your own story.
