I sat in homeroom, Rachel at my side. She and Kyle had made a deal entitling themselves to become my very own bodyguards. I couldn't imagine Rachel as a bodyguard. I kept thinking of her in one those big suits that made her look 10 times bigger than she actually was. I chuckled softly at the thought and looked up from my hands. "Good morning, class. I'm glad to see you all back after the weekend." Mrs Barkley, our homeroom teacher, said. She smiled at me when she noticed me sitting in her class. "And I'm especially glad to see Carson back," she said and walked to her desk. I heard a few snickers, but chose to ignore them, as well as the looks I was getting from certain people; those certain people being the popular group I was part of only a month ago.

I saw Rachel shift in her seat beside me from the corner of my eye. I turned to her and shot her a smile, letting her know I was fine. She smiled back and nodded. I turned back to the teacher. She was doing role call. Answers looped through the class quickly. We had 10 minutes left in class, which the teacher graciously gave to us as free time. Rachel and I were talking about the new Spanish teacher when the bell finally rang. We both got up and walked out of class. Luckily, I had Kyle and Rachel in all of my classes, except for English; that I still had with Ethan.

We walked into History and took our seats at the back, as usual. While the teacher basically talked the kids to sleep, he gave us an assignment to do on the Berlin Wall. Oh, so that's what we were doing class! I looked to Rachel. She was scribbling down answers faster than lightening. Well, in my perspective anyway. "Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked me, spotting my disbelief at the speed of her hand. I chuckled and leaned in closer and whispered. "You write really fast." I said and pulled away. Her cheeks turned a light shade of pink as she looked back down to her work. I chuckled, but then felt a tap on my shoulder.

I turned around and saw Brandon, striker on the school soccer team, sitting behind me. He passed me a note and went back to working. I squinted at him and looked at the note. I quickly turned around, in case Mr Henry turned around. Rachel looked at the note. "Who's it from?" she whispered. I shrugged. "I don't know, Brandon didn't say anything." I said and opened the note. I read the scribbles carefully, trying to make out what the person was saying and when I did, I honestly wish I hadn't.

Carson,

Meet me during lunch behind the school.

We need to talk.

- E

I read the note over and over again until I was sure I wasn't dreaming. I showed it to Rachel and she shook her head. "Don't go, it could be a trick." She said. I looked at the note and who signed it. Was E for Ethan? I asked myself. I pondered on it until class ended and Rachel and I separated and I made my way to Calculus, a class I shared with Kyle. I decided against meeting whoever sent me that note during History, knowing Rachel was probably right. I sat down in Calculus and sighed. I hated this class, like I hated all of my classes. I sat there and waited for Kyle. After a while, he entered the door and smiled at me. "Hey dude, how was History?" he asked me as he sat down in the desk beside me. I shrugged. "History is my nap time, so yeah – it was brilliant." I said with a smirk. He chuckled and faced the front as the teacher started speaking about something I wasn't interested in.
