"Dan?" I swiveled around myself, trying to find Dan. "Dan!"

I was alone in the hallway, basically just waiting to be caught by Filch.

Did Dan bail on me?

I need a place to hide.

As that thought entered my head the wall next to me morphed into a door. I didn't question it, even though I should've, and ran inside. I slammed the door shut behind me and leaned against it, letting out a sigh of relief.

"Phil?" I looked up to see a path that led to Dan, who was sitting on a rug in front of me. Surrounding that path and everywhere else were candles, tons and tons of candles; on the ground, in the air, everywhere. They gave the room a soft glow and made Dan look all the more beautiful, his eyes especially, which looked almost golden. I walked towards him and sat down with a thud, dropping my wand next to his. "Are you okay?" he asked, his eyebrows knitted together.

I let out a soft chuckle and enveloped Dan in a hug. He froze for a moment but soon relaxed and buried his face in my shoulder. We melted into each other like the candle wax surrounding us. I leaned away slightly and got caught by his chocolate eyes. My stomach flipped over and all thoughts turned to mush in my head. My eyes flickered to his lips and I let out an audible sigh, it had been so long since I had appreciated Dan's lips. I had been working so hard to respect him and I knew it wasn't a waste of time. as antsy as I felt, I knew voicing my thoughts would make Dan feel ten times as guilty as he already felt, and he would never say a thing. But maybe... I felt bad for even thinking about it, but maybe now, in the candlelight...

"Dan, I know I have asked so many times but..." I trailed off and my face heated up. Guilt was already twisting in my chest from even thinking about what I was implying.

Dan smiled before leaning towards me and kissing me. At first I froze, shock taking over all off my fired up senses. But before I could melt into the kiss any further Dan pulled away. The kiss, more so a peck, had lasted only a second, but it took ten for my shock to fade. Dan giggled and a flurry of butterflies was unleashed from my stomach. I let out a shaky laugh.

"Thank you." Dan said.

"For what?" I chuckled, my face heating up. "all I did was drag you from classes, almost get caught, and stand back as you find the most perfect place ever."

"I've had a lot of firsts I'd like to forget." Dan pursed his lips into a smile. "thank you for giving me one I don't want to forget."

"So Katie thought it would be a brilliant idea to throw these enchanted fireworks into the bonfire." I spoke with a salty tone and Dan chuckled.

"Did she?"

"Oh she did! And did they go off? Yes they did!" Dan gasped. "they flew right at me!"

"Were you okay?" Dan asked.

"Yeah, I survived, barely." I crossed my arms in a tough manner and Dan laughed.

"Speaking of survival, I'm so hungry right now I might die." Dan rolled his shoulders back with a crack. "you think it's almost lunch?"

I winced at the sound of his joints popping. "have we been down here that long?"

"I mean time flies when you're having fun." Dan shrugged. I rolled my eyes and Dan giggled. I stood up and looked around, panic starting to set in. "what's wrong?" Dan asked.

"Where's the door?"

At that moment all the candles began to flicker.

"Phil?" Dan whimpered.

"Find the exit."

As Dan scrambled to his feet the flames grew and together in front of us, forming a barrier in front of the exit. It began to shot fire balls at us and we dropped back down, the fire whizzing by us. I scooped up a wand and pointed it at the giant flurry of fire.

"Aguamenti!" I shouted, but the spell rebounded and the water knocked me in the face. I didn't have time to cry out as I flew backwards and slammed my head against the floor. Dan rushed to my side for a moment before disappearing again. "Dan?" I groaned, trying to push myself up.

"Phil!" Dan screeched as a fire ball came flying straight at me. I froze on the spot with fear and braced myself for death. I was surprised as instead of feeling the familiar scorching burns on my chest, I felt a body colliding with mine and slamming us onto the ground. I looked up at the body of Dan on top of me, his eyes squeezed shut and tears on his cheeks.

"Dan!" I exclaimed.

"Get your wand." He whimpered as he crawled off me.

I scrambled across the floor to my wand and pointed it at the fireball.

"AGUAMENTI!"

A giant burst of blue light shot from my wand as a tsunami of water flew at the fireball and extinguished it completely.
