My heart stopped. I thought I was actually dead.

How do I reply to that?

Luckily I didn't need to as he left the room, his hips swinging, and left me a stuttering mess. I tried to gather my shattered resolve and calm the raging butterflies in my stomach.

"Phil!" Dan yelled.

"Coming!" I scrambled from my seat and ran downstairs.

Dan was sat at the table, his father cutting the pizza. Dan looked up innocently and smiled.

"Come on," he patted the seat next to him. "sit next to me."

I nodded dumbly and sat down, my stomach still in a whirl. He smiled at me and I managed one back.

Dan and his parents chatted but my mind was elsewhere.

"Oh, Phil," Dan tapped my shoulder and I turned to him. "you'll have to share a bed with me. Is that okay?"

I nodded with a subtle smirk.

"Yeah, that's cool." I smiled and took a slice of pizza.

Two could play at this game.

I woke up before Dan the next morning. We were tangled in a lazy embrace despite starting on opposite sides of the bed, his bare chest pressed against my clothed one. Dan's hair was curling at the ends and his snores were soft. I pulled him closer until my lips were just by his ear.

"Dan," I whispered, my voice deep and gravelly. "it's time to get up." He groaned and rolled his head away from me, exposing his neck. An idea popped into my head and I placed a delicate kiss on his neck, right above where his collar bones protruded. he let out a whine and I kissed him again, just below the Adams apple. he let out another whine and began to move around slightly but I gripped his lower back to hold him still and against me. He whined at the restriction of movement and I let out a deep chuckle.

"C'mon bear," I placed a kiss just beside the ear. "time to wake up."

He let out a high pitched moan and I rolled away with a smirk, leaving Dan whining and rolling around the bed alone. I enjoyed the view of Dan desperately rolling around until he rolled off the bed with a yelp. I let out a laugh as Dan groaned and picked himself up off the floor. I continued to laugh as Dan glared at me.

"What?" he groaned and got to his feet, rubbing his neck. "Did you just—"

"Yup." I replied, popping the 'p'.

His face went red and I patted his cheek, before walking to the bathroom.

"What time do your parents usually get up?" I asked, beginning to brush my teeth.

"Uh..." I glanced out the bathroom to look at him, toothpaste dripping down my chin. His face went even redder when he saw me, white toothpaste dripping down my chin in a vulgar manner. I smirked and wiped it away with my thumb. "The— they—" he coughed and I raised my eyebrows. "They usually get up at around seven."

"What time is it?" I spit the toothpaste out and swished water around my mouth.

"It's uh... eleven thirty."

I ran my fingers through my fringe and examined my face.

"Damn I need to shave." I murmured under my breath. I walked out and ran my hands along my stubbly chin. "What do you think?"

"Huh?" Dan stared at me dumbly.

"Do you think I need to shave?" I asked slowly.

Dan's face went even redder, if that was possible, and he stuttered. He opened and closed his mouth like a beached fish and I patted his cheek again, Dan practically melting in my touch.

I walked out of the room, swaying my hips, and down to the kitchen. Dan's footsteps came behind me, slightly delayed but quick to catch up. I leaned against the counter and waited for Dan to come in.

"What can we have for breakfast?" I asked, enjoying my view of a flustered shirtless Dan.

"Um... we could have..." he trailed off and began to search through the cabinets. He pulled out some pancake mix and held it out for me to see. "we could have american pancakes?" he examined the box. "Why did my mum buy this? Whatever, do you want it?"

"Sure." I shrugged.

Dan began to pull out supplies for the pancakes while I read the directions. Dan began to mix the ingredients together. I watched Dan while he mixed, his lips pursed together in concentration and hair still mused from sleep.

He glanced up at me with a soft glare.

"Are you gonna help me or are you just gonna watch me make the pancakes for you." He snapped playfully.

"I think I'll watch." I shrugged.

Dan rolled his eyes and I giggled. His eyes flickered to me and he smiled softly to himself.

We stood in comfortable silence as Dan waited for the pan to heat up. He moved the bowl of batter next to the heated pan and stood there for a moment before wiping his floury hands on his pants.

"Okay," he said, breaking the silence. "I'm not really sure what to do next."

"Here," I took a ladle and poured the batter into the pan. I smiled as an idea popped into my head and I stood behind him, my chin on his shoulder. "the golden rule of american pancakes is that you have to wait for bubbles to form. Once they do start bubbling you can use a spatula to flip it but you don't have to. I prefer the ladder."

Dan turned around and I moved back slightly to give him some space, but stayed close to him. His Adams apple bobbed and his eyes roamed my form before he spoke.

"How do you flip it without a spatula?" Dan asked meekly.

I backed away a little and sent him a softer smile.

"I'll show you." I checked the pancake to make sure it was bubbling before taking the handle of the pan and flipping the pancake. Dan gasped slightly as it flipped in the air, and letting out a sigh when it landed back in the pan. After that side cooked, I took the spatula and placed the pancake on a plate.

"I wanna try." Dan exclaimed, taking the ladle and pouring batter onto the ban. He waited for a few minutes for bubbles to form before grabbing the pan.

"Now Dan, just be careful and don't—"

Dan tossed the pan up and sent the pancake flying into the air before it stuck to the ceiling. Dan's eyes widened and he looked to me.

"Well," I sighed, looking from Dan to the pancake. "I was gonna say don't drop it but I'm impressed you managed to do this."
