"You're so beautiful" the handsome mystery man says looking longingly into my eyes. I smiled as a blush crept onto my cheeks, "W-Why thank you" I say taking a peek at his hazel eyes.
"I've always loved you Adelaide, don't you know that?" he says slowly getting closer until we were mere inches apart. I quickly nodded as my breath hitched.
As he started to close the everlasting gap between us my heart rate quickened. I fluttered my eyes closed expecting to be kissed but suddenly I heard beeping.
I quickly opened my eyes to reveal that my mystery man was gone and that I was in my room. My romantic moment had only been a dream.
My name is Adelaide Parker, I'm 16 and a junior at Beverly High. If you're expecting me to say that I'm some perfect popular girl or that cliche geek gone wild then I'm sorry to disappoint; I'm just me.
I've made the personal choice not to get close to anyone here because in all reality we're only going to see each other for 4 years. After that, you move on and can't even remember each other's names.
Why waste my time, right?
Typically everyday for me was stressful but this particular day was the first day of junior year.
It's not like it's anything special I mean I'm not the new girl and I've been going here since freshman year but that's kinda the problem, everyone knows me.
Like I said before, I'm not close with anybody but that doesn't stop them from thinking that they are close with me. It's just a bunch of people who think they know my whole life story and think that we're best buds or something.
I groan as I roll over taking a minute to assess just how tired I am while mentally lecturing myself on the need to go to bed at a decent hour even though I know I won't listen to myself.
As I shuffle to my closet I pick out a simple black v-neck with some ripped skinny jeans. To top off the look I put on some all black vans and wrap a green flannel around my waist and tie it loosely.
For my makeup I throw on a winged eyeliner with no lipstick because honestly people..its just school. I run a curling wand through my already curly hair just to fix any frizzy pieces before running out of the door and onto the bus.
When I arrive at school I already notice the more popular kids grouped up around their fancy cars.
They had tried to recruit me into their little prep 'gang' once but I quickly turned them down. As I make my way past them I hear their laughter, must be nice to have friends.
I keep my head low hoping that they won't notice it's me but that plan fails as I hear my name being called by a guy named Todd. "Adelaide Parker? Is that YOU?" He says putting a little more emphasis than needed on the last part.
I mentally slap myself for my lack of sneaky ninja skills.
"Todd..hey, how's it going?" I say awkwardly kicking at the pebbles on the asfault. "It's going good, of course you would know that if you would've answered any of our texts. We must've tried to get in touch with you a billion times this summer, we wanted to hangout with you."
"Uhm sorry I just uh, got a new number!" I say nervously knowing that I just lied through my teeth.
I have had the same number since the 8th grade for crying out loud.
He looks me in the eye for a moment longer than comfortable as if he is trying to see whether I'm lying or not but quickly adjusts himself, "Oh okay well that's cool I guess." he says shrugging.
I nod and tell the group that I have to go to class, I'm just glad he believed me.
My first class was English which I was totally excited about seeing that it's my favorite subject. As I walked in I noticed the stares from everyone as I shuffled in and found a seat at the back of the room.
It really wasn't a wise choice for me to sit there though, usually the back row was where all of the loud abnoxious kids sat so that they could talk freely without being so obvious about it. It was too late for me to switch though seeing as class was about to start.
I scanned the room looking for new faces when my gaze fell upon the most colorful eyes I had ever seen.
They were bright green with little specks of brown in them. They reminded me of the ones I had seen in my dreams.
Trust me, I am fully aware of how weird that was.
As I studied the rest of his face I noticed that he was staring right back at me. I quickly looked away a bit embarrassed but as I took another peek at him I noticed that he was blushing and smiling to himself which for whatever reason made my stomach flip.
"Hey babe" Matt, one of the abnoxious guys whispered from beside me.
"Not even in your dreams kid" I said rolling my eyes trying to focus on what the teacher was saying.
"Aw, don't be like that! So how about I take you on a date hun?" he said throwing in a smile that might impress some girls but just makes my skin crawl.
"How about no? Find some other girl to hit on" I said with frustration in my voice. Once the bell rang I hopped out of my seat thankful to be away from my admirer.
After a couple more classes it was lunch time. I couldn't get the mystery guy out of my head as I sat down at an empty table.
I scarfed down my lunch in disappointment, he wasn't even here.
How silly was I to think about him, I didn't even know the guy.
As I got up to throw away my trash I was grabbed from behind and a hand was put over my mouth. I was dragged into an empty hallway by an unknown person.
The attacker then slammed my back against the lockers and I was face to face with him. Matt from English class.
"You really shouldn't have talked to me like that" he said with a dark tone in his voice.
I stared at him wide eyed not knowing what to do. "W-What are you going to do to me?" I said emotion laced in my voice as I tried to keep from crying. He doesn't deserve to see me cry.
Leaning in he whispers hoarsely in my ear "don't worry about a thing babe, I know how much you want me" he starts to trail kisses down my neck and I hold in a cry that's dying to escape my lips.
This is wrong, this is so wrong. I close my eyes and try to go into my happy place like I've been taught to do before.
Suddenly I hear a husky voice yelling and then Matt is pulled off of me. I open my eyes and see the mystery guy and Matt fighting---well more like Matt's on the ground getting the living daylights beat out of him.
"STOP! Don't touch my boyfriend!" one of the cheerleaders yelled running up to them. Where was she like two seconds ago?
Before I knew it the principle had pulled the guy off of Matt who was curled up on the floor. I know I should feel bad for him but seeing as he was about to rape me just a minute ago..well it kinda changes things.
I don't know who this guy is but right now I consider him my hero.
