I don't know why people think that retail therapy helps at all because it doesn't. No pair of stilettos are going to subside my aching heart.
Okay maybe that was a little dramatic but still.
Cami has dragged me into multiple stores in the mall but we have yet to find a suitable outfit for the party. "This is hopeless" I huff.
"You've said that like 5 billion times already! We will find something to wear. Let's go into Forever 21" she said excitingly pulling me through the doors as I groan. We searched around a little bit and grabbed a few outfits that we wanted to try on.
"Okay girl come on out!" Cami said to me through the dressing room door. As I walked out I was currently in a way too tight electric blue dress and Cami's eyes lit up in awe. "That's the one!" she squealed and I quickly shook my head, "I can't even sit down in it! Besides it doesn't look like..well, me" I said before going to change.
***
I had officially tried on 10 dresses but nothing looked right so I gave up. Cami, however, was currently in the dressing room putting on yet another outfit. My mind was still focused on Justin. I kept replaying the makeout scene in my mind over and over and it made me want to cry every single time.
"Earth to Addy!" Cami said impatiently. She was currently in a off the shoulders form fitting white dress that came a couple of inches above her knee, she looked great. "So what do you think?" she smiled. "I think that you look great but I still have yet to find something to wear." I pouted.
"You really think that I look good?" she said looking into the full length mirror in front of her as she completely ignored the rest of what I said. I nodded, "I'll meet you outside" I said and she nodded going to change.
On my way out I noticed a man who looked to be about 18 unpacking some new clothes for the store. "See anything you like?" he smiled and it revealed his dimples. This guy was swoon-worthy. He had dirty blonde hair that was shaved down a bit on the sides, he was tall, and had glasses.
He was like a really hot nerd.
"Um hello?" he said waving a hand in front of my face. I instantly snapped back into reality. "Uh sorry, w-what did you say?" I managed to stutter out and he laughed the most beautiful laugh ever. I'm mentally drooling.
"I asked if you saw anything you liked?" he repeated amused. I shook my head, "I've been here for an hour with my friend trying to find something to wear to this party I'm going to." I sighed sadly. "You don't seem excited about it?" he stated more like a question. I shook my head "I'm not really a people person so being around a lot of people doesn't exactly make me happy". "Well that makes two of us" he said genuinely smiling and I did the same.
"So I'm not a fashionista or anything but this looks like it will be beautiful on you." he smiled and handed me a nude colored dress with a heart-shaped neckline and a thin glittery belt around the waist, it was absolutely breathtaking and I couldn't believe that I hadn't seen it before. I gave him the biggest hug ever and then pulled away, "oh I'm sorry, I didn't even get your name." I said blushing awkwardly. "I'm Greyson" he smiled, "I'm Adelaide but you can call me Addy" I said. "Well Addy, why don't you go try on the dress. I'm curious to see what it looks like" he said and without another thought I zoomed into the dressing room.
"Hey are you ready to g-" Cami was cut off by me, "Can't talk, there's a hot guy out there that wants to see me in a dress." I said slamming the dressing room doors.
***
I felt like a princess. The dress fit perfectly and it came a few inches above my knee. It was so me. As I walked out of the dressing room nervously I started to feel a bit self conscious. What if he didn't like it? What if I looked like a fool?"You look gorgeous" is all I had to hear to get me to snap out of my thoughts. I looked up to see a blushing Greyson and a smirking Cami. Nervously I nodded my head, "Thank you". After I purchased the dress I walked back over to Greyson, "Thank you, if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have anything to wear" I smiled and so did he, "Well you would've looked beautiful in anything but I'm glad you liked it."
I don't know if I got some confidence from the past events of today or if the Lord had just instantly blessed it upon me but either way I had to be crazy for what I said next;
"So do you wanna go to a party with me?" I blushed.
***
On the way to my mother's house I felt great! After I asked Greyson to go to the party with me he quickly said yes and we exchanged phone numbers. Cami seriously almost had a heart attack. When we finally got there I just wanted to go in and get the papers signed, she owed me that much.I didn't bother to knock because it was still my house for the time being.
"Mom, are you here?" I shouted from the living room."Adelaide what do you want? You're going to wake up Jerry!" she angrily spat as she came from her bedroom. You were always a joy mother. "I need you to sign these papers" I said sternly. "what for?" she asked so I continued, "So that way I can move out and live on my own" I said simply. "Nope you can forget it, you will stay in this house!" she said upset. Oh really mother? "If you don't sign then I will scream until 'Jerry' wakes up! And I have a feeling he won't be too happy about that" I smirked darkly at her and her jaw dropped. "Whatever Adelaide! where do I sign?" she huffed and I showed her where to put her name and etc.
"Okay since that's all I needed I guess that I'll be going then" I said turning to walk away. A hand was placed onto my shoulder making me look back to reveal my teary-eyed mother, "I'm sorry I was so horrible to you, I tried to do good I really did but I just..wasn't cut out to be a mother" she said allowing a tear to roll down her cheek. I smiled sadly, "It's okay, I know that you tried to love me but you just couldn't, I understand because sometimes I don't even love me." I said removing her hand and walking out.
Though things in my life were looking up the scars of my past were far from healed.
"Did she sign?" Cami asked as I got back into the car. "Yeah, she wasn't going to at first but we came to a mutual agreement" I smiled covering my sadness that was deep within.
"Well I can't wait for the party tomorrow" she smiled.
Neither could I, it was going to be the day that I have fun with a guy other than Justin. I needed that.
Hey my loves!! So I didn't put the party scene in this chapter because I felt that it would take up a lot of detail and this chapter was getting long already. Let's just say things might heat up a bit lol oh and btw both Adelaide's and Cami's dresses are labeled and in the cover photo this week so check it out! Love you guys!
