Wide Awake

It was currently 3am but I was wide awake, why? Well because it's kind of hard to sleep while your mother and a strange man are hooking up in the next room.

This had always been a routine in my life. It's just that a few years ago the only other man that she was hooking up with--other than my dad---was Vinnie. I'm sure that you know by now that he was my neighborhood rapist but my mother had developed deep feelings for him at one point in her life.

*Flashback*

It was 2am on a Tuesday morning, my dad had been away on business. I laid there awake listening to my mother's conversation, "He won't be home I promise. He won't be here until AT LEAST friday" she said breathlessly giggling. "And my wife is visiting family for the week so that means we have the whole house to ourselves" he said seductively before my mother squealed of laughter, I don't even want to know why. As much as I disliked my father it was still wrong of her to cheat. "Let's take this to my room" she said in a bit of a slur, she was always drunk. "No! Wrong roo-" she was too late, he had already opened my door and revealed my surprised stricken eyes. I felt like he stared at me too long but I shrugged it off when mom pulled him away. That was the first night that we had met, but it wouldn't be the last.

*End of flashback*

Hot salty tears pierced my eyes as I remembered everything. These were the times when I had wished that I had friends to talk to. I decided to text the only person that seemed to care about me.

{A is for Adelaide and J is for Justin}

A: Hey are you awake?

J: Barely, what's wrong?

A:Nvm it was silly of me to text you, it's late.

J:Addy tell me right now

A:My mom brought another guy home with her tonight and it's just bringing up some really bad memories for me.

J:Im coming to get you, pack some things

A:What? Your mom would kill me

J: 1.My mom loves you 2.It wasn't a question, get your stuff.

A:Okie dokie

I sat my phone down and grabbed a bag to put some clothes for school in along with some essentials. I also knew that I couldn't leave my favorite stuffed animal behind.

Don't judge me, I love Burt the farting hippo.

As my phone lit up I saw that Justin was here. I sneakily made my way down the stairs and saw that my mother was no where to be found.

"And where are you off to baby girl?" a gruff and drunken voice said from behind me making me freeze. "None of your business old man" I said trying to be strong.

"You better learn to watch your pretty little mouth around me little girl" he said obviously upset that I'm not into him. "Or what?" I challenged him foolishly.

He started to come closer and I began to shake and back up against the wall. Please don't.

"Or I might just not let you leave" he said getting dangerously close placing a hand on my waist.

The door knob to the front door turned and in walked Justin, "What do you think you're doing!?" he yelled pulling the man off of me with ease. Justin was pretty muscular and compared to the other man's long and lanky body frame he didn't stand much of a chance.

"What is going on here?!" Mom..or should I say Tyra..yelled upset.

"He attacked me!" the man said pointing to Justin who was currently dumbfounded.
