50 First Dates
Chapter 2: Dream Girl
Date: 1
"Hi, my name is Harry, and I'm guessing yours is Beautiful?" I laugh, starting my routine.
"Corny much? But, uhh, no, it's ----" She blushes. For some reason her name is blurry to me so I find a way to play it off.
"Corny got your attention, right Beautiful? Actually, I'll call you Belle, which is french for beautiful. And, you could be my princess." I wink.
"Who said it did? And, what if I'm someone else's princess?"She steps closer daring me to. This one's a bit different then the others. Scratch that, a lot more different.
"Then you would've stepped away, not forward." I challenge back, also stepping forward. I slip my hand on the small of her back pulling her close to me. I watch her giggle in my arms, and I'm tempted to kiss her.
I lean in to kiss her, as she stares at my lips. Just as my lips are about to make contact with hers, she places her index finger on my lips.
"Slow down player." She warns.
Beep. Beep. Beep. Well then, weird dream. I groan looking at the time. I hate mornings with a passion. I find my eyes drooping shut. Just one more minute I convince myself. I open my eyes, and 30 minutes have passed.
"I really shouldn't do that one minute thing." I mutter to myself. I lazily lift myself off the bed and go to the bathroom. I quickly take a shower and brush my teeth. I return to my room and throw on a random black tee and jeans.
"All this time, I've had plenty of time." I mutter looking at the time. I open my cabinet, searching for cereal. "Looks like I have to go out for breakfast today." I say to myself, cause that's normal, and grab a jacket.
···
"Can I have a menu?" I ask looking down at my watch. It's a Sunday so I don't have to go to work until 11 today, I have a good 2 hours left.
"Here, you might like Number 3 little duck." The waiter says looking at my knees. I look down at my knees where my jeans are duct taped. I see what he did there, corny, but just my kinda guy.
"Then, I'll have a bacon, egg, and cheese on an english muffin." I smile at him returning the menu.
"On its way." He replies, preparing my sandwich.
I take a look around the little café, when my eyes land on a girl. She's a brunette, with a slight tan, dark bushy eyebrows, brown eyes, and small plump lips. She's pretty.
"Beautiful, right? " A brunette guy next to me looks at her also. I nod not saying a thing. "Too bad no one can get her."
"Well, she hasn't met me." I smirk.
"Yea, I'd like to see you try." He laughs.
"Here's your order. Liam, let the poor guy dream." The waiter hands me the plate with my sandwich.
"How much do you guys want to bet that I can?" I challenge them.
"I'll give you $50 if you can actually have a full out conversation with her." Liam dares me.
"Alright Big Pop, and Liam, watch and learn." I sneer sitting at the booth behind her.
"Hmm.. If I could be free
Would you fly away with me
Out into a world, that has never been seen
And that's if I could, fly, fly, fly
Far away past the sky, sky, sky
And the only thing that would keep me aliivvvee....
Is our love
Is our love
My heart is wide open
Partially broken
Umm.." I hear her sing.
Her voice, is beautiful and sweet, same way she looks. I'm gonna feel bad dumping her, but at least she'll have the best week of her life.
"What should go next..?" I hear her soft voice again, clearly frustrated. That's my cue. I stand up and walk to her.
"Hey, I don't mean to invade, and I know that it's your own personal business. But, I couldn't help over hearing you singing, with that beautiful voice of yours." I stare at the paper which has her unfinished paper.
"Thank you." She says distracted, not giving much to go on.
"You're welcome.. Umm.. Excuse me what's your name?" I ask.
"Lily, not to be rude, but if you don't mind, I need to finish something." She says as sweet as you can say that. I turn and glance at Liam and Big Pop who are laughing at my expense. Looks like I'm gonna actually have to try.
"Actually, I do mind." I say confidently.
"Excuse me?" She asks surprised.
"Well, you didn't really let me finish. I see that you're stuck and wanted to offer my help." I continue.
"Thanks for the offer, but I don't really need help, I can manage." She replies cleary annoyed. I can hear Louis and Big Pop guffaw, which is only making the situation worse.
"That can only be healed, by the words you have spoken." I snap walking back to my seat.
"Wait." She softly says.
"Yes?" I question stopping in my tracks.
"I, uhh, I like that lyric. Would, you umm, like to maybe sit with me? Maybe bounce off ideas, and help me in general?" She asks timidly. I smile nodding.
" My heart is wide open
Partially broken
That can only be healed, by the words you have spoken" She sings quietly.
"I think you should change 'that' to 'and'." I suggest. She nods scratching out that and replacing it with and.
"And, it wouldn't make much sense to repeat the chorus I sang before again. It sounds sloppy and messy." She tells me frustrated.
I start thinking and lose myself to my music mode. Which means, my lyrics say what I don't want to admit out loud.
"And that's if only you don't lie, lie, lie
I don't want to end up asking myself why, why, why
Because I swear the only thing keeping me aliivvvee,
Is our love
Is our love" I sing softly and quietly enough, that she hears the lyrics and not really my voice. The lyrics bring back painful memories, reminding me of why I'm who I am today.
"That's just perfect!" She smiles at me for the first time. Wow, her smile's beautiful. An image flashes through my head. The girl, the girl from the dream.
I cant help myself from comparing her to the girl. They look exactly alike, except the girl has lighter hair... Weird. Their personalities are different also, yet similar. The girl from the dream has the physical appearance of Lily, minus the hair color. Thinking of the girl, her personality actually reminds me of someone else.
The one who should not be named.
