Our Last Talk, Our Last Goodbye

Chapter 4

"Shay!" Kelly gasp as he wakes from his bed in his hospital room. 

"Severide, you're awake." Casey smiles as he sits up from his chair next to Kelly's bed.

"Where's Gabby? Is she okay?" Kelly says as he look hastily at Casey. 

"She's good, Sev. Promise, she's a couple of rooms down from you. Boden is with her. Why'd you say Shay's name?" Casey ask leaning forward towards Kelly.

Before Kelly could respond, Shay appears behind Casey's chair and smiles at him. 

"Shh." Shay says behind Casey. 

Kelly nods his head. 

"Get well, Kelly. Remember what I said." Shay says before disappearing from the room.

"Severide!" Casey says focusing Kelly's attention back on him. 

"Yeah, what were you saying?" Kelly says. 

"Why'd you say Shay's name?" Casey ask again. 

"Don't remember, it was probably just a dream." Kelly says.

"Love, it's time to wake up." Shay whispers to Gabby. 

Gabby' eyes flutter open and she is staring into the eyes of her lover, or should she say wife. Gabby smiles and tries to sit up, but groans in pain. 

"Don't move. You got pretty banged up back at the fire. I can't stay long tonight, I just wanted to see you once more. I'll be back again, ok?" Shay says stroking Gabby's cheek. 

Gabby nods her head. Shay smiles and places a gentle kiss on Gabby's forehead. 

"Get well, Mrs. Dawson-Shay. It may not be official here, but it is to me. I'll be back soon, Gabs." Shay says before disappearing off. 

Gabby has a longing smile on her face as she looks were Shay had just stood. 

"Dawson! You're awake." Boden exclaims happily, as he grips her hand. 

"Yeah. How's Kelly?" Gabby ask looking at Boden.

"Boden just texted me. Dawson is awake, and she's doing fine." Casey says as places his phone back down. 

"Good." Kelly says nodding his head. 

A nurse appears in the doorway and knocks on it gently. 

"Mr. Severide? Have your personal items you had when you came in?" The nurse says holding up a bag. 

"Thank you. I'll take them." Kelly says as he sticks his arm towards the nurse.

"Thanks so much." Gabby says as the nurse places her items on the bed.

The nurse nods and makes her way out the room. 

"I'm gonna go take a bathroom break. I'll be back." Boden says before leaving Gabby alone. 

Gabby looks through the bag, and stumbles on a black box. Gabby pulls it out of the bag and opens it gently. In the black box, lays a note with something underneath. Gabby pulls the note out and begins to read it. 

'To make sure everyone down here knows you're mine. Forever and forever. Signed by yours truly Leslie Elizabeth Dawson-Shay.' It read. 

Gabby looks at the content inside, in there lays a sparkling diamond ring. Gabby cries and slips the ring on her finger. Gabby places her hand on her heart. 

"Forever and forever." Gabby cries.

"You'll always have my heart." Leslie whispers as she looks down at Gabbh from her place above.

Leslie cries and places her own hand that had the ring on her heart.
