Our Last Talk, Our Last Goodbye

Chapter 5

"Hey Gabby, can I talk to you for a second?" Kelly ask Gabby. 

Gabby nods and gets up from her place on the couch. Kelly and Gabby walk into the locker room, Kelly quickly checks and sees if the coast is clear. Kelly looks at Gabby with a smile. 

"Gabby, when we were in the accident, did you see you know who?" Kelly ask nervously. 

"Yes, I saw her, I saw Shay. She was real, Kelly." Gabby says happily as her eyes flood with tears. 

"You got to see her too?" Kelly says happily. 

"Yes! I saw her, Kelly." Gabby says. 

"Me too. Shay and I we talked and talked. God, all of the anger and sadness I felt before I saw her is gone. I know how much she loves and that wherever she is, she's safe and sound. She's okay, she misses us too." Kelly says with a smile. 

"Kelly, Shay and I got married." Gabby says showing Kelly the ring she wears as a necklace around her neck. 

"She always said she would marry you someday." Kelly says. 

"And I did." Shay says as she appears on the bench.

"Shay!" Kelly and Dawson whisper happily. 

"Thought I'd peep in. Gotta see how my wife and my big brother are doing." Shay says. 

"Great now that you're here, buddy." Kelly says with tears streaming down his cheeks. 

"Don't cry, Kel. I'm here, I'm still here. Together forever guys, right?" Shay says standing up from the bench. 

"Yeah, together forever." Gabby says with a tearful smile. 

"I'm with y'all forever." Kelly says. 

Shay smiles and pulls them both in for a group hug. Shay kisses them both on the cheek before pulling away. 

"I'll be back soon." Shay promises before disappearing off.

Gabby died at the age of 82, after having a hip replacement surgery. Gabby's heart couldn't handle the strain of surgery. Shay was there to hold Gabby's hand as she passed away to join her. Shay was also there comforting Kelly as the doctors delivered the news. When Gabby returned to the place where she and Shay once were long time ago, Shay and Dawson began starting their new life together. Including starting a family.

Kelly died at the age of 94, Kelly had a heart attack and died in his sleep. No one saw it coming. Shay cuddled Kelly that night, knowing what would happen to Kelly. Kelly knew since Shay was there, he's time was arriving. Kelly called all his remaining friends from Firehouse 51 and District 21, to say his goodbyes.

"Hello? Is anyone there?" Kelly cries out looking around the room. 

"Hey Kelly." Shay calls as her, Gabby, and a small little boy walked toward him. 

"Shay, Gabby." Kelly sighs as he stands up and jogs toward then. 

"Hi, Kelly." Gabby says with a smile. 

"Gabby, what happened to you? You're not old anymore, you like what you did back in our Firehouse 51 days." Kelly says confused. 

"We don't get old here Kelly, we age mentally, but not physically. You're the Kelly you were when I died." Shay explains. 

"Everyone is here. Come on, it's time for a little reunion don't you think?" Gabby says taking Kelly's hand. 

"Yeah, I'd like that." Kelly says happily. 

"Oh and Kelly? This is our son, he's name is Shawn Kelli Dawson-Shay. Say hi, Shawn, this your Uncle Kelly. Kelly say hi to your nephew, Shawn." Shay says picking up Shawn, the 4 year old, from the ground showing him to Kelly and handing him off to him, 

"Hi, I Shawn. We got the same name, mommies told me a lot bout you. You their best friend in da whole wide world." Shawn rambles on as he look at his new Uncle.

"Hey Shawn. And your mommies are my best friends in the whole world too. And you're my new friend too." Kelly says happily as tears flow down his cheek. 

Shawn frowns and uses his tiny hands to wipe the tears away. 

"Why you cry Uncle Kelly?" Shawn ask confused. 

"Those are happy tears, buddy." Shay explains to her son. 

"This means Uncle Kelly is really happy." Gabby says as she rubs Kelly's back.

"Oh. Why you REALLY happy, Uncle Kelly?" Shawn ask again. 

"Cause I'm home, buddy. I'm finally home." Kelly cries.
