Lucifer looked through the street, ignoring everyone and everything. Every once and awhile he had to kill some idiot, and that's just what he had done. He went to walk away from the crime, but a young woman bumped into him, spilling a hot liquid he had known as 'coffee' all over him. He was furious. She was very apologetic.
"Oh no! I am so sorry! I-I didn't see you there!" He looked up to her, and his face softened, her eyes brimming with tears. She looked at him, and he was at a loss for words.
"I'm so sorry, let me pay for that!" She reached into her purse, but he put a hand on her arm to stop her.
"No, it was my fault, but how about you give me your number and I can replace that coffee some time?" Gabriel had always done very good with human woman, and he had heard this line whenever Gabriel purposefully bumped into them. She considered it for a bit, before taking a deep breath, and smiling sweetly. She pulled out a pen and a piece of paper.
"Oh, well, alright. But I'm still paying for your shirt." He smiled at her, and she wrote her number on the piece of paper. He watched her every move, completely fascinated by her. Her soul was brighter than any he had ever seen, but her thoughts were plagued with fears of not being good enough. She was better than any human, she couldn't just be another filthy human. She had to be something more. He was trying to explain how this woman could be so perfect, but was pulled from his thoughts when she turned around, handing him her number. He gratefully accepted it, and looked down at it.
"Well, y/n, hope to see you again soon." He said, happily.
"Wait, I never got your name." She put a hand on his forearm as he turned to walk away, and her touch sent electricity through him.
"My friends and brothers call me Luci." He stated simply. She wasn't an avid church goer, but she did believe in God. She didn't seem like one for Satan...
"That's so funny! That was my nickname as a kid!" She laughed, and he seemed surprised. (If you're name is Lucy, ignore this entire part, and change it to them thinking it's funny her name is his nickname. I apologize for any inconvenience.)
"Well, technically it was Lucifer, long story, but I swear I'm not actually Satan, but it was always-" he cut her off.
"Too long!" He finished with a laugh. He felt his heart speeding, and he wanted to stay there forever. She laughed too.
"Exactly!" They were in a fit of laughter, but eventually she got a phone call. She seemed scared as she spoke.
"Yes. I am on my way home. Everything's fine. No. I'm not, I swear." She answered each question a seemingly drunk, angry man gave her, and her eyes welled with tears. She walked past Lucifer and back to her apartment, which Lucifer himself had just exited. He turned on angel radio, to hear what was going on. A man was shouting at her, and she was trying to calm him down. He was obviously drunk. Suddenly Lucifer heard the sound of y/n getting slapped, and her falling to the ground. He raced up the stairs, dialing 911 as he ran. He explained the situation, and they came to her rescue. They let him see her, and he saw a large red mark on her face. He pulled her close, and ran his fingers through her hair.
"Thank you. I don't know how you did that, but thank you." She hugged him, and he was frozen. She was amazing. He wrapped his arms around her in response.
"I'll never let anyone hurt you again. I promise." He meant it. When he finally had to leave her, he immediately set some demons up as a protective detail. He typed her number into his phone, and stared at it. That's why she felt responsible. Worthless. That's what he had told her. He hit call.
"Sorry to bother you, but I just wanted to know if you'd be up for that coffee tomorrow?" He anxiously awaited an answer, desperate to have an excuse to see her again.
"Sure, I'd love to!" Her voice rang through the phone, calming him. They talked for about forty minutes before she had to go.
"Hey, uh, before I let you go, I just wanted to remind you that you're amazing." He didn't know what came over him.
"How would you know?" She was teasing, but he still felt the need to answer.
"Because. You're perfect." With that he hung up, and she sat, speechless. Perfect?
