Troubled?

"Sammy, why're you always eating salads? You know what, no. No, I am ordering you a burger. A real American burger."
Dean shook his head, putting his hand up when the waiter passed by. She stopped, humming in Dean's direction.

"He'll take a cheeseburger instead. Hold the onions, he's not a big fa-"

"No, I'll take onions. Thanks."
Sam nodded her and gave her a smile. Dean just laughed. He knew his brother was only trying to stay healthy, unlike himself. But Sam NEVER ate unhealthy, which to him, was unhealthy.

"Dean, I didn't want a burger." Sam complained, throwing his hands up.

"Well, too bad." Dean chuckled. He watched as Sam just rolled his eyes and did a side smirk, like he always did.

Dean felt his phone buzz in his pocket and he decided to take it out and check to see if it was from Cas. The day's had been long without him. It's been 4 days. They had finally finished the case that night and decided to celebrate with burgers. Mainly why Dean wanted Sam to ACTUALLY GET A BURGER!

The text was from Crowley.

"Check on Cas will ya? He's getting quite annoying."

Dean squinted, reading it over and over. Now, Crowley doesn't text Dean unless he seriously thinks something is wrong or he is just pulling your leg. Would Dean take those chances?

"Sam. Crowley texted me. He said "Check in on Cas will ya? He is getting quite annoying." I'm gonna call him real quick." Dean stood, excusing himself to stand outside.

The lighting was dim but it was enough. He touched Castiel's number and it rang.

But only once.

Then went straight to voicemail.

"I don't understand. Why do you want me to say my na-"

Dean hung up and went back into the burger place. Their burgers had arrived and Sam was staring at his with wide eyes. He had not eaten something like this since college, or some time when Dean had made him eat a burger. He just couldn't believe the size!

"Oh stop, you'll love it! Um, Cas. Straight to voicemail. Sam that makes me really nervous." His voice lowered a bit. Sam looked up from his burger and nodded.

"We'll check in on him, okay? We're not too far. So if he doesn't um, call back tonight we'll check on him tomorrow. Okay?" He looked a Dean with his puppy eyes. Dean nodded, knowing that Sam truly understood. He had had his moments with girls, so he could definitely relate in this situation.

"Okay. Now, take a bite of that burger, I wanna see your face."

And Sam did, moaning in satisfaction. The dinner was filled with laughs...they had not been able to have these moments in a while. And both of them missed it. Their lives had turned upside down, and they didn't have much time to just relax and not focus on anything. And now, in this moment, there was always a sudden realization of what was actually going on. Giving each of them a smile to hold onto forever.

Dean's phone buzzed again. He contemplated answering it, but decided that if it was Cas or about Cas, he was family. So he would check.

"Did I say that there was a loud thump before the phone line went dead? Now, your angel isn't answering. Don't ask, just know I'm only trying to warn you."

It was from Crowley, and it took Dean with a startle. His heart sped up, eyes looking lost again. Sam and Dean had finally got back to their motel.

"Sammy. I don't think Cas is okay."

Sam stepped out of the bathroom with his toothbrush in hand, toothpaste hanging out of his mouth.

"How so?" He asked. Dean stood, searching for Castiel's phone number.

"Crowley...he said he heard a loud thump before the line went dead. I don't know if that is normal or not but I'm not taking any chances."

The phone rang once and went to his voicemail again, making Dean panic some more.

"Do you want to leave now?" His voice has concern, and he sounded urgent.

"I kind of want to. But we-we need sleep Sam. I'm-"

"Dean...calm down. It's okay. We can leave now, I'm not tired, if you wanna sleep, I can drive. It's all good. Everything will be fine." Sam walked up to his brother, holding his shoulder. Dean was breathing really heavily by now, and he couldn't think straight. So he just nodded. Quickly, he moved around the room and collected all of their belongings. They were all stuffed in a bag, Sam had grabbed their toothbrushes and went out to the car to start it up. It was pitch black outside, but Dean could care less. He needed to know if Castiel was in trouble. And if so, was it serious? How serious? Where was he? All these questions tugged at him, making him jump into the car and turn around so Sam couldn't see him.

Then, Dean started to silently cry. He didn't cry in front of people much, but he did every now and then to keep from breaking in front of someone. He needed to stay strong for so many people. The pressure they had all been under, finally having one decent moment with Sam, Castiel coming back. It felt like all the pain was lifted. But he realized that his life was not like that. Pain didn't just go away.

It only got worse.

He needed to see Cas. Hug him. Tell him it's okay. But at this point, he doubted seeing his angel for a while. His happy smile faded, his mind going blank. Happiness was the worst of all the emotions. Anger, sadness, loneliness, satisfaction, excitement, and happiness was the worst one.

Because it never seemed to stay.
