"So, the only way to get rid of a ghost is by severing their tie to this world?" Faith double checked with Bobby. A week after her initial plea with Bobby to let her become a hunter, and she had already learned as much as an amateur hunter knew.
"And how do you do that?" Bobby asked, keeping a steady gaze with his niece.
"Salting and burning the bones or whatever is holding them to this world." Faith answered proudly.
"Great job." Bobby praised his niece.
"This is all very useful information, Bobby. But when are you going to teach me about demons?" Faith asked innocently.
"When you're ready. Demons are very dangerous, you need to avoid them at all costs." Bobby warned her.
"But I want to know about them now." Faith whined, stomping her foot against the floor.
"I know the memory of losing your parents is still fresh in your mind, but you're too young and inexperienced for demons. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about; I'm just trying to look out for you sweetie." Bobby told his niece sympathetically. As Bobby spoke, Faith realized he was right.
In reality, all she wanted was her parents back and she had a faint glimmer of hope that killing the demons who killed them would somehow bring them back. But, as she continued to study under Bobby's watch, she began to realize that they would never come back. Besides, Bobby had made sure that they were cremated so that there was no chance of any creatures possessing them or resurrecting them.

A month later, as Faith sat on her bed upstairs reading, a knock sounded on her door.
"Come in." she called out as she set her book down on the nightstand.
"Hey kiddo. I just wanted to let you know that I'm leaving for a case in a little while." Bobby informed her as he poked his head into the room.
"Can I come with you?" Faith asked excitedly, her body shooting up into a sitting position.
"I don't think that's a good idea." Bobby sighed after thinking about it for a moment.
"Well, what are you hunting?" Faith asked, cocking her head to the side. Bobby hesitated, he knew what he was hunting was above her skill level; he had only just starting teaching her how to kill the easy creatures.
"Do you remember learning about rugaru's?" Bobby carefully asked the fifteen year old.
"Yeah. They're flesh eaters. It's a disease that travels through genes. At first, the infected person is just really hungry. But eventually, they get bloodthirsty. The first time they eat human flesh, there's no going back." Faith prattles off the things she knew about the creature, hopeful that Bobby would let her go.
"Good, you remembered all that." Bobby praised her with a gentle smile on his face.
"Please let me go with you, Bobby! I need the experience." Faith gave her uncle her best puppy dog face.
"I know you do, but this could be dangerous." he reasoned with her.
"What part about being a hunter isn't dangerous?" Faith sassed her uncle with a raised eyebrow.
"You've got me there, kid. But, it's only been a month since we lost your parents. I don't want to lose you too." Bobby spoke softly.
"You won't. I'll be very careful, I promise." Faith spoke in the same manner, a reassuring smile across her face. Bobby pinched the bridge of his nose as he let out a long sigh, before he spoke again.
"Fine. You have one hour to get ready."
"Thank you so much, Bobby! I promise I'll be good." Faith cheered as she jumped off the bed and ran towards her uncle. She wrapped her arms around his neck and squeezed slightly. Bobby, in turn, wrapped his arms around her torso and returned the squeeze.
"Go on, get ready." Bobby chuckled as he pushed the teenager off of him.
Faith smiled brightly before she pushed him out the door so she could change and get ready. Faith had no clue how long they would be gone, or where they were going, so she packed for almost any occasion and climate. She even brought a swimsuit, just in case they went somewhere near a beach or if their hotel had a nice pool.
As soon as she finished packing, Faith ran to her closet and picked out an outfit. In a matter of minutes, she had changed out of her pajamas and into a red plaid flannel, puffy black vest, dark blue jeans, and brown riding boots. She then applied a layer of mascara before she tossed her makeup and pajamas into her duffel bag.
"Let's go, kid!" she could faintly hear Bobby yell from downstairs. Taking one last glance in the floor length mirror on the back of her bathroom door, Faith smiled to herself. On her way out the door, she grabbed her book and tucked it under her arms.
"We're taking the Chevelle." Bobby informed his niece.
"Can I drive?" Faith asked excitedly.
"You just started learning how to drive and can barely drive in a straight line. Do you really think that's a good idea?" Bobby asked sarcastically.
"I guess not." Faith scowled as she threw her duffel bag into the trunk beside Bobby's.
"Maybe I'll let you drive sometime at night." Bobby gave in as he started the car. Faith smiled widely as Bobby got onto the county road.
"So, where are we going?" Faith asked the question that had been bothering her for the past couple hundred of miles.
"Rock Creek, Minnesota." Bobby answered without taking his eyes off the road. For the next three hours, Faith slept while Bobby drove.
Once they neared the small town of Rock Creek, Bobby reached over and woke his niece up.
"Alright, you're going to be staying in the hotel room until I find where the damn thing is at. No arguing. You don't have any ID's, nor are you old enough for any. Besides, it's safer for you in the hotel room." Bobby told her as he drove through the town to the hotel he reserved a room at before they left.
"Okay, fine. I'll stay in the room." Faith frowned, not at all happy about it.
"And if I ask around and find out you left the room and disobeyed my directions, you can say goodbye to being a hunter." Bobby warned, his tone entirely serious. Faith's eyes widened at the threat, so she nodded her head quickly.
"You know I'm only doing this to protect you." Bobby spoke softly.
"I know, I just wish that I was old enough and experienced enough to help you with this part." Faith sighed.
"Well, when I get enough information, you can help me with the research, sound good kiddo?" Bobby compromised.
Faith nodded her head eagerly as Bobby parked in the parking lot of their hotel.
"Grab the bags, will ya?" Bobby asked as he headed up to the office. Faith agreed and grabbed both of their duffel bags from the trunk before she went and joined Bobby in the office. Once they got their room, Bobby instructed Faith to not leave while he went out to talk to the locals. Only when Faith promised to not leave, did Bobby leave himself.
