The next morning around dawn, Faith began to get dressed for her day. She would be hiking around the area that all the campers went missing to see if she could find any hidden caves or a place the wendigo would likely be hiding. Faith split her hair into two sections down the middle, then she French braided each side.
After she finished that, she changed into a pair of leggings, a red and black plaid long sleeve shirt, and a black vest. Before she forgot, she tied on her black Nike tennis shoes. Her hiking bag was packed with all of the essentials she would need for her hunt: matches and a ton of lighters. She also threw some regular hiking essentials into her bag such as water bottles and a rain jacket.
Once she was ready, Faith slung her bag over her shoulder and walked out of her hotel room, making sure to lock the door behind her. When she got to her car, she tossed her bag onto the passenger seat and got inside. It only took her a few minutes to get to the part of the forest where the fungus colony was growing.
"Well, here goes nothing." Faith sighed before she started her hike into the woods. For several hours, Faith wandered aimlessly around the woods, looking for any signs of a cave. When she got tired of not being able to find anything, Faith let out a quiet sigh and sat down on the trunk of a fallen tree in the middle of an empty clearing.
She ran her hands over her face before she leaned back onto the tree and closed her eyes. They hadn't been closed for thirty seconds before the leaves in the tree above her, and only this tree, rustled. Faith shot up in alarm, wide awake.
"You have got to be kidding me." she whispered to herself. The sound came again, this time across the clearing.
Faith whipped around and tried to locate fallen twigs and kindling, anything she could use to make a fire. As she gathered her supplies, the sound of rustling leaves got closer and closer. Faith scrambled to pull her lighter out of her bag before the wendigo could get to her. But she wasn't quite fast enough.
A tall, lanky figure loomed over her. Faith's screams did nothing to stop the creature. In mere seconds, the clearing was empty again. The only remnants of Faith being there was the pile of twigs and leaves in the middle of the clearing and a fallen lighter next to it.

When Faith gained consciousness again, she was hanging upside down in a cold room. Or so she thought. As her eyes adjusted to the darkness, she suddenly realized she was hanging from the ceiling of a cave. She pulled her body up towards the ceiling to see what was holding her there. She let out a huff of annoyance when she couldn't figure out what it was.
As her eyes adjusted more, Faith began to look around. The floor was a good twenty feet away from her, and it was covered in some sort of liquid; she couldn't tell what it was from this height. Faith looked around the ceiling some more, coming to realize she shouldn't have. Every ten feet or so, another body was hanging from the ceiling.
A lot of them were skin and bones. Faith could only spot two other sort of fresh bodies near her. A shiver ran down her spine, causing whatever was holding her to the ceiling to semi lose it's grip on her feet. Faith immediately stopped squirming. She let out a deep breath before she dared to finally check herself for injuries.
There were several cuts on her face and two dripping fresh wounds on her neck, most likely from where the wendigo fed from her. She could feel several cuts on her stomach and legs too when she checked. After a while, once it felt like all the blood in her body was pooled in her head, did Faith begin to think about how long she had been here.
She had no way of knowing how long she had been unconscious or a way of keeping track of the passing time. It felt like she had been hanging there for days, maybe weeks or months. Somewhere in the distance, Faith could have sworn she heard a ringtone that resembled the one she had programmed for Bobby.
Faith stole a glance at the ground and could faintly make out a lump on the ground, with a tiny light flashing up towards the ceiling. Faith knew that had to be her cellphone. Just as the tiny light went off, Faith could hear the wendigo returning. Shivers once again ran down her spine as she thought of what would happen to her.
Would Bobby have to try and solve her death? Would he come looking for her and have to kill the wendigo? Would he find her body dangling from the ceiling, never being able to get it so she could have a hunter's funeral? All these questions ran through her mind as the wendigo's long strides brought it closer and closer to her.
Her eyes squeezed shut as she prepared herself for what was about to come. But it never came. Instead, a bright white light erupted from the ground. Faith's eyes shot open as she watched a bright white fire engulf the wendigo. It's strangled cries were quickly drowned out by Faith screaming for help from whoever had killed the creature.
Then, it happened. One minute she was dangling from the ceiling. The next, she was laying on Bobby's couch surrounded by Bobby and three strangers. Her face contorted in confusion as she stared between the four men surrounding her. She then shook it from her mind and pushed herself off the couch towards Bobby.
Which, in hindsight wasn't a good idea, because as soon as she stood up, all the blood that was pooled in her head rushed back out into the rest of her body. Faith fainted and fell towards the floor. Strong arms caught her before she hit the floor and the last thing she saw was apple green eyes look into hers.
