The air was thick with dust. There were noises outside and booming sounds of bombs dropping. The screaming of people being taken to containment areas. Crying children being taken from their mothers.
Joseph and Victor were had woken up in the bunker sore and covered in ash. Victor grabbed canned beans and warmed them up over a fire he had made.
"When did you have time to make this?" Asked Joseph
"Well, after i got back from the war, my father left his company to me after he had passed. And for about a year i was in the process of 'remodeling' the place and i installed this bunker."
"Nobody knows about this place?"
"Nope just me and..." Victor paused as he was about to utter his wife's name.
"There was no way you could have saved her, you would have died if you went in." Said Joseph, as he put his hand on Victor's shoulder "And in honesty, you look better alive, y'know, all in one piece"
Victor chuckled and looked at Joseph, but just before he said anything he stopped.
"What's wrong?" Asked Joseph
"The bombings, they stopped."
They both listened. The noise had ended. Victor climbed up the later to the bunker hatch and opened it up. He looked around and saw nothing
As he climbed back down he told Joseph to grab a few cans of food and then to follow him.
Joseph grabbed the food and shoved it into a backpack then followed Victor. Victor showed Joseph a room filled with weapons.
"You know how to shoot?"
"Yeah, my dad taught me."
"good, now gear up, we need to be ready, in case we run into truble on our way out."
"Will do." Joseph grabbed a pistol and an M-16.
"Here, screw these on" Victor handed Joseph two supressors "If we kill, we have to kill silently."
Joseph screwed on the supressors and nodded to show he was ready.
"And wear this, it'll keep you from dying." Said Victor as he handed Joseph a bullet prove vest.
The two headed up and out of the bunker into the dealership. There were cars flipped over and demolished. Smoke filled the air and there was fire all in the city. The screaming was still hear but distant.
"Let's go, the city exit is at least seven miles out."
They snuck through the back alleys and avoided all enemies. As they passed by two enemies they heard their conversation.
"I thought the prophecy was an afghani terrorist group. Why are they speaking asian." questioned Joseph
"The prophecy is a mixof North Korea and Afghanistan forces. They work together."
Joseph was about to speak when out of no where, a helicopter flew over. It was American. The helicopter was about to land, but a missile was shot at it and the heli went spinning to the ground.
"Quick, hide." Whispered Victor.
Joseph hid in a flipped car and Victor hid in a nearby porta potty that was on its side.
The voices of men were heard rushing to the helicopter. A man stopped right in front of Joseph and started talking to someone else. Joseph was laying as still as possible. He was trying to keep as quiet as he could. Sweat ran down his face as the twi men talked. Finally, another man came over and yelled at the two men taliing and all three of them left. Joseph peaked out and saw it was clear.
He got up and tap the porta potty to let Victor know it was clear. Victor climbed out and said to Joseph "They most likely have missiles all around this city, that leaves going airborne, out of the picture"
Joseph nodded and the two began their walk again. A few hours pass and they were in downtown L.A. Victor suggested searching an apartment building for any supplies.
Joseph agreed and they went inside.
