They searched all the rooms of each apartment. Victor went to search a room which apeared to be what was a bedroom. As he walked around the room. He heard crying coming from the closet. He signaled Joseph to go over to him.
As Victor reached for the closet door, Joseph aimed his gun. With one quick move, Victor opened the door and a woman yelled "Please! Don't shoot!"
Joseph lowered his gun. Miss, we're the good guys. We can help you."
The women shook and turned to see them both with a frightened look "H-how can you help us?" Victor looked confused and asked "Us?"
The woman stood up and told someone else to get up. A child, only twelve years old, stood up. The boy was covered in ash and had cuts all over his arm. "I'm Janice." The woman gestured to her son "and this is Taylor, my son"
Joseph kneeled down to the boy "Hi, I'm Joseph, and this is Victor." Victor waved and looked at the Janice
"Miss, we're trying to escape the city, we have limited food and need to continue, are you going to follow us, or no?"
"How do I know I can trust you two?" Asked Janice
"I'm an army vet and want these bastards out of this city. Excuse my language, but I want to leave this fucking city before I die in it. So if you trust me I can guarantee you're going to leave here alive."
Janice looked at her son and looked back at Victor
"Okay, i trust you. Where are we heading?"
Joseph answered " Were going east for about another six miles."
"Ok, let me grab my bag and we'll be ready."
Victor nodded and headed to the exit.
Now, the four of them were on there way to the exit of the city. They snuck through the back alley ways of the city and kept having to hide from the men patrolling the streets.
They made stops at random stops to search for supplies. Janice still had her doubts of Victor and Joseph, but she had no other choice but to dollow them. The boy on the other hand, grew a liking towards Victor. He'd always talk to Victor at the stops about him and his mother.
By the time the four made it halfway, night had fallen over the sky and they made refuge inside a nearby building.
