The Veteran

The escape

Morning came and an alarm went off from a digital clock. Dr. Hindley turned it off and got up. She woke Victor up and asked how he slept last night.
"Peaceful, no dreams and no nightmares." He answered
"Good, hopefully it'll stay that way."
Taylor and Janice got up and dusted the dirt off themselves.
"We better go, Dr. Hindley, grab at least 4 first aid kits and two bottles of pain killers." Dr. Hindley nodded. "Taylor, grab your backpack and you do the same Janice. We're only 3 miles out from the exit of the city."
Everyone got ready and packed up.
Victor stopped and looked at Janice and Dr. Hindley. "You twi know how to shoot?"
Both of them nodded and Victor took the guns on the table thay belonged to Joseph and gave Dr. Hindley the pistol and Janice the M-16.
We leave today, if you need to kill, don't hesitate. We will make it out alive, all of us. All of them left out of the hatch. Victor checked to see if its clear and signaled the three ti get out.
They all went out of the back exit and headed for the exit of the city. Victor told everyone get down. He saw two guards on top of a roof. They had their backs turned away from the four.
Victor raised his gun and aimed at the man closest and fired. The man fell off the edge. The other man went running ti see what happened and Victor shot him as well. His body fell down like a ragdoll.
Everybody got out from hiding and ran to the exit. A truck, with only a driver, went driving by an alley and everyone had to drop as quick as possible. Their bodies just dropped as they acted dead. The truck stopped and the driver went to check the bodies.
He poked victor with a baton and saw him breath. The man pulled out a gun to shoot him, but Janices rolled over with her gun out and shot the man. Victor looked up and saw Janice with her gun still up. Victor stood up and helped her up. Dr. Hindley and Taylor looked amazed.
Victor thanked Janics and got an idea. He took the dead mans uniform and put a mask over his face and sunglasses on. He told everyone to get in the back of the truck and keep their heads low. He got in the drivers seat and headed to the exit.
As tey came closer to the exit, Victor saw something in the distance. It was a checkpoint. He told everyone to give him their backpacks and guns. He drove up to the checkpoint and drove up next to the soldier.
"Why are you trying to leave the city?" Asked the soldier
"I have hostages in the back, I was told that the containment areas are full and that I am to execute them outside the city in the middle of no where."
The soldier checked the back and looked at the three with their heads down and ash all over them.
"You may pass, hurry back. We have to regroup and deal with escapees."
Victor nodded and drove off. Could it be true, did they escape. Four days in this city of hell, and they escaped.
Everyone cheered and were filled with joy. Victor yelled and eas smiling, until he heard the radio. He heard a very familiar voice.
"We found a soldiers body in the middle of an alley.Do not let anybody leave the city."
The man's voice, Victor couldn't figure out how he knows that voice.
"We have identified who the escapee is. Name is Victor James, Taylor and Janice tuller, and Dr. Hindley. Welcome bac Mr. Victor James."
Victor realized who's voice it was. It eae thr man in black who killed anthony. Victor stopped the car and told everybody what happened. Taylor and Janice looked angry and Dr. Hindley look at Victor with sympathy.
Victor told them that he would drop off everyone at the nearest city snd that he had to head back.
Dr. Hindley hated the idea, but she figured there was no way to stop him.
Victor dropped everyone off and told them he's off to go kill the man that took his partners life.
Before he left, Janice stopped him.
"I have to go. You cant stop me."
"I know i can't, I just wa ted to tell you, go kill that asshole. Kill him for killing my husband."
Victor nodded, and waved goodbye. He was heading back to kill the son of a bitch that killed his partner.
