Chapter 8

The next morning, I got up at 6:00. The house was quite, and my mom had already left for her business trip. My dad was tying his tie as I walked out to the bathroom, and he gave me a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Where are you headed off to daddy?" I asked as he walked down the stairs.

"I have to get to the airport. Have to get to the main building in NYC" He said almost out the door. "Jared is going to your Nana's house after school and will stay for the week until me and your mother get back. She's in California for the convention. And Sadie's staying with Casey. Your alone, and Carla will be here by 4 to clean and cook dinner."

So I had the house to myself this week! I smiled as he went out the door and turned back to the bathroom. I turned on the shower and started in.

Ten minutes later I was out with my purple cotton robe wrapped around me and started to my room. I grabbed my phone and texted everyone I knew.

Party Friday! My place from 8PM to 12AM.

Hopefully our housekeeper, Carla, wouldn't be around!

I opened my big closet. It was a new addition, and with being twelve feet high and 20 feet wide, I had to use an old library ladder to reach everything. I turned back to my big, spacious room. My hot pink and gold canopy bead was on one side, my gold couch on the other, my 40 inch plasma screen tv on the wall, and my white, glass desk against the wall. My room was huge and all mine.

I heard a door slam down the hall and the next thing I heard was Sadie's iPod blasting as she got herself ready. Jared appeared in my doorway asking for breakfast. You can't resist his cuteness! I got down my ladder and bounded down the stairs.

I popped some toaster strudels in the toaster for both of us, and spotted a note on the breakfast nook table. I noticed my mom's handwriting.

"Kallie," it read. "I am at the convention all week, so take care of the house. The kids will be away, so don't burn the house down.

Love, mom"

My mom worked at the local arena as a special events coordinator. That means that she books all of the concerts, conventions, and non basketball games. Every 3 months, she goes to the LA Lakers stadium for a convention with clients to try and get more things booked at their stadium.

The strudels popped out and I put one on each plate for Jared and I. I let him eat and ran up the stairs. Sadie was coming out of the bathroom just as i slipped into my massive room.

I got up on my ladder, and pulled out my white shorts, and neon pink ruffled, Lace, crop top that exposed my stomach a bit. I pulled on my silver jacks and began my makeup. Shortly after, I heard the bus horn as Sadie and Jared went off to the middle and elementary school building that was 10 miles from the high school building of James B Prepatory Academy. We all started there as preschoolers.

I heard a ping and checked my iPhone 5 and saw a text from Cassie. She said that she couldn't take me to school because she had a doctors appointment.

Oh well. I thought and then headed down stairs to grab my breakfast and then to the 2 car garage. I grabbed the keys to my red convertible and pulled out of our long driveway and out the gate. Our neighborhood is huge and it took me almost 5 minutes to get to the entrance gate of my neighborhood.
