Arisa's P.O.V.
Of course, it had to be raining on a day we have a mission neither Lisa, nor I want anything to do with. I don't mind most missions, but this one, in particular, is an exception. We've left that place nearly 7 years ago and I thought we wouldn't have to deal with the place ever again, not for as long as He is still alive and around. After the hell He had put me and Lisa through, I highly doubt he's ever changed. If he tries to offer us up to our old room, I'll have to decline his offer for both of us. After He's put us through, he can't be trusted. Not ever again.
"Of all our 7 years we've known each other and worked together, I've never seen neither one of you this highly intense or wary before," says Paul, trying to lighten things of the situation.
"Well, let's just say that our past that ties our link to our destination isn't one for the fate of heart, nor is it necessary for us to explain about it unless we have to, "I said, presently.
"But, since it's just you, we'll explain to you once we get to the gates of Davenport," says Lisa, trying to keep things light.
"Oh good," says Paul, brightening up at the chance.
"Lisa will explain things to you. I could care less," I said, refusing to be part of the conversation as I reach into my backpack, producing a book, and began to read, with my headphones plugged into my ears.
Lisa's P.O.V.
"Ah, don't worry too much about her, she's had the experience much worse than I did. I did say that I was going to explain things to you as soon as we get to the gates of Davenport but since Arisa technically gave me the okay, I guess it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and explain things to you now than later," I said.
"Sure, better now than later," Paul nods, beckoning me to go on.
"Okay, for starters, Arisa hasn't been the same ever since the night our parents were killed when our uncle took us in the same night and she's been the same intense, wary alerting warrior that she is today. I didn't mind at the time our uncle took us in, but Arisa never really felt comfortable around our uncle even though we both knew that he was the only living relative we had left. It wasn't long after our parents were killed that our uncle began to get emotionally unstable and started drinking and smoking, he would even bring women who slept with other men and have sex with them. But whenever we were allowed outside, she constantly kept an eye out for a job that paid well so that we could leave and move out of uncle's house.
One day, as nightfall began to settle in for the day, Arisa and came back to our uncle's house later than the time we were supposed to be back by, our uncle was furious even though we knew that he was drunk. To avoid getting hurt, all we could do was retrieve our room and lock our bedroom door. We would then go to a corner of our room and keep away from the door whenever we heard our uncle go mental. That night, we knew that we had to leave the house and never come back. I slept just fine that night but Arisa was now so afraid, wary, and worried about our uncle might somehow barge in through the door, she didn't sleep at all. When morning came, she attempted to sneak us in some food. But as rotten luck would have it, our uncle had caught her in the action and beaten up Arisa very badly, she h was covered in big bruises on her face and arms, she barely had the strength to move around even just a little. At that moment, we knew that we had enough of our uncle and decided it was time we had to leave. I still remember it like if it was just yesterday and the exact words that Arisa had said to our uncle that day."
Flashback...
'Uncle, we're leaving for a new life in the city of Dayton, Ohio and we're not coming back from then on. We really appreciate it that you took us in, but now it's time we left and live on our own. Goodbye Uncle.''Girls, you can't leave now, it's after midnight and it's not safe to leave!! Who's going to take care of you?!?!?' Our uncle roared with drunken rage.
"We didn't care about the consequences and dangers of the night. We knew we just had to leave right away. Since then, we haven't heard or seen him for the past 7 years," I said, finishing our story.
"Wow... I can't believe that really happened to you guys," says Paul, amazed by our story.
"Yup. That's why this mission is a sensitive subject to Arisa. She doesn't want to be reminded of, or anything to do with our past," I tell him, glancing at Arisa, who was still reading a book.
