~ A week later ~
C.J clearly didn't want me here.
Not at all.
Not even a tiny bit.
He doesn't talk when he's near me.
He doesn't smile when he's near me.
He doesn't even eat when he's near me!
I'd ask him what's wrong but maybe I'm overreacting.
I went to go use the wash room and as I walked in a noticed something in the sink.
Something red.
A dark red.
Blood.
I ran out and saw Tate.
"Tate! Th-there's blood in the sink! Is everyone ok?" I shouted, both anxious to know what it was.
And terrified to know who's it is.
"What?" Tate says, running to the bathroom and looking into the sink, "C.J!"
I hear footsteps as C.J enters the room.
They were very slow.
Not like C.J.
"What is it Tate?"
Tate points into the sink. "What is this? It certainly isn't y/ns because he was frightened by it. It wasn't me because I just got back from grocery shopping. So it has to be yours."
"I-.... I....," C.J sighs, "I got into a fight today. A serious fight. The guy had a knife! He was shouting about same sex marriage so I went to talk to him. Turns out he was homophobic. So I poured my drink on him and he came at me with a knife. So I....."
"So you what?" I said quietly.
"So I ran down a dark ally and got cornered."
"Are you ok? Did he cut you at all?" Tate said, worry in his words.
"Just a little" C.J said.
He pulled up his large sweater, wincing.
To reveal...
A large stab wound and several deep, bloody slashes.
He fell to the ground.
I screamed.
Tate scrambled about, trying to find his phone.
I heard him dial 9-1-1.
I heard him shouting at the officer who had answered his phone.
I heard sirens.
I heard a door slam open.
And I saw C.Js blood.
It was everywhere.
Why couldn't it have been me?
He didn't want to die.
He didn't want to be stabbed and slashed.
But I did.
I want to be dead.
