Mr LA unlocked the door and I stepped into Rhys’ house for the first time. “So Marcus, welcome to your ‘home’.” He kicked some stuff. “Sorry about the mess, four boys doesn’t help the matters.”“It’s okay sir.” I laughed. “My house gets messy too.”
“Marc, call me Charlie.” He smiled, ruffling my hair. “You can!” I nodded.
Three boys appeared on the stairs. “Hi dad!” They called. “Who are you?” They yelled at me.
“Marcus!” I shouted back. The looked at me approvingly.
“I’m Ethan.” Ethan said.
“I’m Flynn.” Flynn also said.
“And I’m Daniel.” I smiled at them.
“Are you triplets?” They nodded.
“Triplets run in our family.”
“We’re Ten, we now go to the school on the other side of Manchester. Special school!”
“It’s not a special school, Flynn.” Charlie scolded.
“I’m Marcus and I’m twelve too. I came from spain.”
“What?” Flynn smacked his head, then suddenly released. “Hey, you’re the one that helps him with his problem.” The boys giggled at that.
“Yeah?”
“Why do you?”
“Because I suffer with the same thing.”
“Er, do you have a bathroom.” I asked Charlie. When he had told me where it was, I went running in that direction. I stood against the wall and slid down it, tears pouring down my face. “Michael, I’m really sorry. Just be okay, like you always are. I’m sorry.”
There was a knock at the door. “Marcus?”
“Hi Rhys.” He pushed the door open and walked in, saw me on the floor crying, and locked the door behind him.
“What’s wrong? I saw your face before.” He looked into my eyes and I started talking fast, fast enough so he couldn’t tell what I said. “What?”
“Realmente extraño a mi hermano Michael y sé que probablemente no va a estar bien . Por qué no tuve un sueño acerca de esto? I didn’t have a dream. It could have been me. It should have been me.”
Rhys put his arm over my shoulders. “Michael will be fine. No, it shouldn’t have been you. Who would of helped me?” He looked at me. “You know I need you, don’t you Marcus?”
I smiled and hugged the first year tight. “Thanks Rhys.”
We walked out of the bathroom and Ethan was on the stairs, Flynn with him. They looked at each other and laughed.
“What were you doing in the bathroom?” Ethan snickered.
“Nothing.” Rhys glared. The older boys laughed.
“I don’t think it was nothing Ethan.” Flynn laughed. He started making gestures only they can understand. The boys laughed.
“HEY!” Rhys growled, jumping towards them. I guess he knows what it means too. I grabbed him as he jumped to punch them. “Leave me off!” I started to laugh. “What?”
“I’ve never heard anyone say ‘leave me off’ before!”
