(KIM)
I walk down the street towards the building where we had our first Misfits United! meeting. We had a good time once we started playing Pokemon GO. And who knows? Maybe this week, someone will fill that empty sixth chair.
I wanted to figure out Duncan Jones. He hasn't talked much since our last meeting. Like, at all. I want to know what's going on inside of that head. I want to know why he doesn't talk. He's probably thinks that he's figured me out, but he doesn't know squat about me. He doesn't know what I do to myself, and he doesn't know why I do it.
None of them do...
But I won't tell them. Ever. It's my secret. My one true horrible secret, that if it ever got out I would probably shrivel up and disappear from existence. Yeah. That'd probably happen.
"Kim!" I hear someone call as I reach the door and I turn around to see Hannah walking towards me.
"Hey Hannah." I say as the blonde comes up to me, and she smiles a little bit.
"How've you been since the last one?" She asks me and I shrug.
"Alright, I guess. How about you?" I ask her and she kinda shrugs as well.
"I could be better. Could. I haven't seen Simon in a couple days, Kim. He always me at least once a week to make sure I'm ok, and he hasn't called me this week. What if somethings happened to him?" Hannah says worriedly, and I place a hand on her shoulder, which I can just barely reach because of how short I am.
"I'm sure he's ok. Just, how well do you know Simon? I mean, did you guys meet before this thing?" I ask her and she nods, brushing some hair out of her face.
"Yeah. We've known each other for about a year. He saved my life and I saved his. If somethings happened to him and I wasn't there..." Hannah whispers, and I squeeze her shoulder lightly.
"I'm sure he's fine. Honestly, Hannah. I bet he's ok." I say, trying to reassure her, and she nods. We both walk into the building, and go to our room in the back.
In the room are Duncan, Lewis, and thankfully, Simon. Hannah goes over to Simon and punches him in the arm, causing him to cry out in shock.
"What was that for?!" Simon says and Hannah glares at him.
"You didn't call me this week. You didn't call, and you always do, so I thought you were... I thought something had happened to you. You scared the freaking crap out of me, Simon Lane!" Hannah says, and I just kind of go stand by Duncan and Lewis. We just watch this play out between the two.
"Oh my God... I totally forgot to call you... Hannah, I'm so so sorry. I truly am. I never meant for this to happen. I promise, I will never forget to call you ever again. Ever." Simon says, absent-mindlessly rubbing the spot on his arm where Hannah had punched him.
"Ok... It's just... After the last time you didn't call..." She says, and Simon stares her right in the eyes, and it's the most serious I've ever seen him. At least until this point.
"Hannah, that is never going to happen again. I promise. I promise you it will never happen again." Simon says and I just look at Lewis and Duncan.
I know the same thought is going through all three of our minds right now. What the hell happened last time he didn't call her?
"Ok... Ok. I'm sorry I punched you." Hannah says, and he smirks a little bit.
"It's alright. I kinda deserved it." Simon replies and then the two come over to the three of us.
"Sorry about that. So, what's on the agenda for today?" Hannah says, and we all are a bit surprised at how quickly she gets the subject changed.
"Uh... We hadn't really thought of that. I mean, how far can we go if there isn't like, an adult here? To lead us through the session. We can't just go out and play Pokemon GO the whole time, as fun as that was." Lewis says and I nod. It's a fair point.
"Did somebody say they needed an adult to run a support group session?" A voice says and we all face the door and see a man walking in. He's got brown hair, brown eyes, and a bright smile. It kinda sickens me to see somebody this happy. I mean, I know I'm happy all the time. But... It's not genuine. At all.
"Um, hello." Is all Lewis says. The rest of us just kinda stand here and look at him.
"Well, let's get started, shall we? My name is Mark Turpin, but please, call me Turps. I was once a teenager much like you all, with problems in their head, swirling around up there until it takes over. But I overcame those problems, and now I'm the man I am today." He says and sits down in the chair that had been empty last week. The sixth chair.
We all just kinda fumble into the seats we had been in last week.
"I am dreadfully sorry I couldn't be here last week. I got caught up with a family thing. But, I am here now, and I can officially welcome us to the first official meeting of Misfits United!." Turps says. I then notice out of the corner of my eye that Duncan is giving Turps a very searching look, as if he's trying to figure this guy out.
"Well, come on now. At least tell me your names. We can't get anywhere if we don't introduce ourselves." Turps says, coaxing us to talk.
"I'm Kim Richards, and I am soooo excited to meet you, Mr. Turpin!" I say, putting on that fake smile that I wear so well, as well as my perky nature.
"Well, it's nice to meet you too, Kim. But you can just call me Turps." Turps says and I nod with fake enthusiasm. I feel Lewis looking at me and I brush it off.
"I'm Lewis Brindley. That's all you need to know about me." Lewis says, and I look at him, a bit confused.
"Hannah Rutherford." Is all Hannah says, and I can tell that her confrontation with Simon earlier is still messing with her mind.
"I'm Simon Lane, and it's a pleasure to meet you, sir." Simon says and Turps looks at Duncan after a nod to Simon.
Duncan remains absolutely silent.
"Oh! He's Duncan Jones! He doesn't like to talk to people all that much." I say for him, with perkiness to spare, and Turps looks at me, and then back to Duncan with a nod.
"So, shall we begin?"
