Thanks to all my readers, I'm so sorry it took so long, but life interrupts, like always.
Soon Carolyn returned with a pitcher of lemonade and two glasses. Alex had reclined in the chair and enjoyed the sight before him. He often had seen the same sight, but this was different, Alex was sitting with Colby. And he also was there with Carolyn, who he'd thought he might never see again.
Carolyn cleared her throat as she approached the deck again. "I've brought some lemonade. I hope it's all right." she said and put the drinks down on the table.
Alex grinned at her. “Why wouldn't it be? It's better than nothing.” He said and shifted so he could sit on the deck chair again, but the action made him aware of his hurt knee, which caused him to wince.
“Oh my, I forgot the ice pack I wanted to bring you. Wait here a second.” she said and went back to the house again.
Shortly she returned a second time and brought him the ice pack, putting it softly on his now bandaged knee. “Tack.” Alex said and took a sip from the lemonade. He smiled and lifted the glass. “It's good.”
“Yeah, my mother usually makes it, when we come down here.”
“That's good. Have you been coming down here for long?” Alex asked Carolyn and looked at her again.
Carolyn nodded her head and put the glass back down on the table. “Since I can remember. How about you?”
“The same. We come here every year, to celebrate the family you could say.”
Both grinned and settled into a comfortable silence. Only Colby interrupted the two Swedes. He kept whining and barking while moving up and down on the deck.
“What's up buddy?” Carolyn asked the dog and patted his big body.
“I think he wants to go swimming.” Alex said and pointed out, as Colby turned back to the water edge.
“But he can't. And I don't want to clean him after wards.” Carolyn said and leaned back against the chair.
Alex laughed softly and patted Colby's head. “What do you think boy, should we go for a dip?” he asked the dog and pointed to the lake. Colby whined softly and looked up at Alex.
The tall Swede stood from his place on the chair and started taking of his shirt.
“Alex! You can't. Think of your knee.” Carolyn exclaimed and stood up herself.
“Oh don't worry. I'm a tough kid. Besides it's good to take a quick dip.” He discarded the shirt on the chair and walked down to the dock, with Colby behind him.
Carolyn didn't know what to say, so she followed the tow. “Alex!”
He looked back and then with a loud whistle Colby and him jumped into the lake. Carolyn looked after them and was stunned in silence at seeing the two of them jump in the water. A few seconds later Alex emerged from the water and took a deep breath.
“Come in, the water is wonderful.” Alex said and motioned his hand for her to join him. But Carolyn shook her head no.
“The water is cold, I will not go in.” she said and crossed her arms over her chest. Alex grinned and leaned up on the dock.
“It's wonderful. But if you insist, could you help me out of the water?” he asked her and put out his hand for her to take. Carolyn smiled a relieved smile and grabbed his much larger hand in hers, but she wasn't prepared for Alex to pull her down.
With a small cry she tumbled into the water and tried hastily to get back to the surface. Taking a deep breath Carolyn prepared herself to tell Alex off, but he was nowhere to be found.
“Alex? Alex!”
A small shriek left her as she felt two arms wrap around her. She turned and found Alex looking at her. “You're unbelievable.” she said pulling out of his embrace and moved away from him.
“I'm sorry. It was just meant to be some fun.”
“Whatever.” she said and swam back to the dock, pulling herself up.
“Carolyn, wait!” she could hear Alex shout to her, but she didn't turn. “Carolyn! Care!”
Carolyn walked down the dock towards the house, but she was stopped as a larger hand softly grabbed her arm.
“I'm sorry. I only wanted you to have some fun, you looked as if you needed it.” Alex said and apologized.
Carolyn turned and was trying to be angry with him, but the sight of his naked chest made her falter. Alone the look of him let her face grow hot again.
“I'm sorry.” he tried again and this time Carolyn responded. “It's okay. I understand.” she said and smiled at him. Alex smiled back and took her hand.
“Are we okay again?”
“Sure.” Carolyn answered and had a mischievous smile on her face. Alex cocked his head in question, but didn't get to ask her as Carolyn pushed him back into the lake.
“Now we have some fun, mister.” she said and jumped in after him.
I do hope you all liked it
