Carolyn had finished unpacking and put the presents she had brought with her on the bed, so they wouldn't get lost.

"Carolyn?" It was her Aunt Marie.

"Still unpacking." she said and put some of the clothes away in her wardrobe. Carolyn turned around and smiled at her aunt.

"Oh, min älskling(my darling). How have you been?"

Carolyn sat down on the bed next to her aunt. "I've been better, but nothing that will heal over time."

"What happened, love? Your mother wouldn't say anything at all."

Carolyn looked down at her hands pulling out the imaginative dirt under her nails. She sighed and leaned back on her bed.

"Do you ever think that there is a right one for me somewhere out there?"

Aunt Marie looked stunned at her niece. Of course in her eyes she was a beauty, but she really couldn't understand why Carolyn was so insecure about herself. "Of course there is. Why shouldn't there be someone for you? Just look at you, dear."

Carolyn snorted, flopping down on the bed and stared at the ceiling of her room. "I just...so many of my friends back in New York ask me for advice everytime. You remember Julie?" Her aunt nodded her head. "Well I met her last week for lunch and she told me that she is getting a divorce. Michael and her were couple of the year in our circle of friends. And Hanna had the same dilemma." Carolyn sighed and continued with her story, telling everything about her friends who had bad relationships in every possible way.

"And now I'm afraid that I'll end up like one of them, just getting a guy so I have someone and then getting a divorce." The emotion in her voice wasn't unheard by her aunt. Marie reached out and lightly rubbed Carolyn's knee, seeing the tears flowing down Carolyn's cheeks.

"Oh, älskling. Just because the relationships of your friends have failed, doesn't mean that yours will fail, too. You'll see, the guy you're supposed to be with will come and you'll feel it."

Nodding her head Carolyn sat up and threw her arms around Aunt Marie. A few minutes later, she had calmed down and her tears had been reduced to shaky sniffles. Reaching over Marie softly brushed the remaining tears from Carolyn's cheeks, smiling at her niece.
"That's a girl. Now you should go and wash your face, your parents have missed you dearly over the few days they were here and probably want to smother you with love." At that both women laughed loudly.

"Oi, what's so funny?" Olivia asked peaking in Carolyn's room seeing her mother and cousin in a fit of giggles.

"Nothing. I'll just take a quick shower and then come back down to you guys." Carolyn said as her aunt left, but not before her cousin had the last word.

"But don't forget the presents I requested."

Rolling her eyes, Carolyn shoved Olivia lightly, so she would leave the room. "Don't worry, I didn't forget after you constantly reminding me about them."

Leaning against the door Carolyn let our a sigh. "Maybe I should just stay single, that way nothing bad will happen." she said to herself and walked over to the en-suit bathroom to freshen up.

Feeling a whole lot better Carolyn had changed into some fresh clothes and went down to the large living room to greet the family. Clearing her throat everyone in the room turned around to look at her.

"Carolyn! How are you, sweetling?" As always her father would be the first to stand. He was mostly like a big teddy bear, though people thought him to a big brute, being from Ireland.

"I'm good, daddy. I'm glad I'm home again." she said leaning into her father's embrace.

"We have missed you. It's been too long since we last saw each other." It was now her uncle speaking. Björn, out of all her uncles, was Carolyn's favourite. When Olivia and her were still children he always used to take them to the Flatenbadets Camping ground over the weekends and usually both kids had gone swimming in the lake every day.

"I have missed you guys, too."

"Okay, enough with all that mushy stuff, where are the presents?" Olivia was acting like a child on christmas, only having eyes for one thing.

"Alright." Carolyn laughed at the antics of her cousin who was the same age as herself, 26. She walked back over to the stairs and got the bags that she had brought with her.

"Okay, for you Aunt Marie, something special." she said pulling out a Alexander Wang bag. "I thought you might use it for when you and Uncle Björn go out for dinner or something." Marie thanked her and pulled her niece into a tight hug.

That was how it went on for some time. For both her father and uncle she bought watched from Tag Heuer and Omega. For her mother she had bought beauty products from Chanel. And lastly it was her cousin. She had send her a page long wish list of what she wanted, but Carolyn had decided on something special. As Olivia had recently told her about a guy she had met, she found the perfect present.

Pulling out the bag, Carolyn walked over and handed it to Olivia. "I knew you probably wanted something else, but I bet this will help, too." Carolyn winked at her cousin and sat back down next to her parents.

A light blush moved onto Olivia's cheeks as she looked inside the neutral bag, not daring to pull it out. You little bitch Olivia mouthed at her cousin and put the bag down next to the sofa. Giggling softly Carolyn leaned back on the couch.

"So how is work treating you?" her uncle asked and put his arm around Marie.

"It's good, sometimes we have a few tough cases, but so far my boss has won most cases, so she's the best of New York's Lawyers."

"That's good to hear, at least you work for the best, and don't have to worry about still having a job when you get back."

All agreed and that was how the evening proceeded. They had a big family dinner and mostly talked about the plans for the summer. Carolyn smiled the entire time, being happy to be home with her family again.
