The brutecountry was very lovely and beautiful, being blessed with butterbush flowers from the gods. They worshipped Fraria, the goddess of life, beauty, and luck; and this was, for sure, her doing. Themiades was the God of strength, glory, and pride; helping the brutes with daily hunting tasks and power in their village ranking. While the brutes were civilized in the matter of trade, they still had to keep charge with power from time to time. Ghoulra, the goddess of everyday and death, was the most worshipped of the three. She was the reason that the brutes lived another day. The country would always be sickly without her.
This is where Cain first met the mysterious maiden. The village center, where the butterbush flowers bloomed in a beautiful circle. A scream was heard and every brute in the countryside ran out of all the comfy, one story, wooden shops and housing to find a young witch perched on the sacred ground of the goddess. Everyone realized she was to be giving a child, but no one knew why she reached to the brutes to give it. Cain, the leader of the village approached the woman, helping her to conceive.
"I... I need to.... Know where Cain is..."
"Why, witch of the eastern world?"
"He... He must care for this child..."
"And why would he do this?"
"This child is born of both... Both brute and witch... this child is conceived of the fifth princess.... of witchland and the third ruler of brutecountry..."
As shocked faces appeared on the brutes around her, small cries appeared before her. It was a little girl, strong with power and magic. It was a natural human. The world had lacked humans for four thousand years.
"Small child, I wish I could... Stay, but I've lost all my strength... For you, I'll give you... My most powerful gift... I shall give you the strength of your father and the mystic of your mother... you will become the most powerful... to protect yourself from the harms of this world... I give you my life, like your father already has..."
With the speech, the witch slowly began to crystallize, to glow, and to finally burst into small fragments that her young, now wrapped, child absorbed, giving her strength and wisdom of both worlds.
Confused, Cain lifted the young girl and spoke quietly, "my dear human child, I shall take you to my home in a far cabin to keep you safe as your mother has wished. You shall not become a human, and I shall raise you as a brute, never to hear the great sin your parents have cast. You shall live, grow old, and die as a brute, and you will hopefully be a great brute too." Turning to the brute residents, he spoke ridged and cold, in a threatening voice, "people of brutecountry, listen well, for you get no more warning, any who speak of the incident witnessed and I shall have your throats cut out and be thrown in a fire, where your family can only pray of where you've gone."
It was clear that the village understood. One who challenged Cain's authority was a dead man. And as Cain took the child, he promised only to keep her safe, not to give her reason to study magic. She was only to grow up as a brute, but while women of this world had to stick together, Fraria and Ghoulra did not approve of the prideful Themiades' plan to see such a great body not fulfil her destinies.
