Lania grew up with a large interest in books. This could have been granted to her by her goddesses to make sure her destiny was fulfilled. Her thirst for words grew so quickly that she would often rush her chores and skip her snack time to read by a giant boolberry bush. She had to venture further and further to escape her family to read another tale strictly written by and about brutes or brutecountry. The more Lania learned, the more worried Cain grew.

As Lania continued to venture, Fraria and Ghoulra had mystically created an abandoned and hidden library of ancient magical practices and stories. Lania, now six, was acting much like a twelve year old brute. Books, advancing her knowledge, gave Cain more unsettlement and Themiades told him, in a dream, to give her more chores and keep her from books. Cain warned her, along with many of the servants to not meddle in books, for any sign of witchcraft could get her in big trouble, and possibly a visit from Ghoulra.

Despite Cain's desperate attempts to stop Lania, she continued to her habits, venturing deep into the forest. Fraria's excitement grew as Lania reached the wooden flooring of the latch to the hidden library. Leaving down to feed her curiosity, Lania grabbed hold of the latch and swung it open. Having a lot of strength helped in this endeavour.

Upon seeing the dust-covered books, she leaped in to open them up. Realizing they had ancient tongue on them, she hesitated. What she didn't know was that this was common speech to the witches and wizards of witchland. Upon opening one, the words started to come alive. She could read a few, as they had common characters to brute language. As she slowly decoded the first few words, they read, A Beginners Guide to Magic.

Lania had thieved the book and ran to her sleep room in the early hours of evening to learn of this. She would do this over the course of the next six months and learn the word of the witch, staying up late each night and challenging herself to guess what the words were. While the words were similar when spoken on basic terms, they were much different when written.

At the age of seven, Cain thought Lania had grown out of her study habits, when they were to appear again. Lania, after learning the witchland writing, returned to the abandoned library to read more into the witchy lifestyle. She learned about basic spells and small herbal remedies that she vowed never to use unless she planned on never seeing the brute again. She learned that to be able to advance in magic, she needed to conjure a familiar. A familiar contained all the knowledge of one's personal magic. Everyone had a different strong suit, so none of her special skills and spells were in the book.

At the end of the day, when the moon hit the sky, she snuck some wood and metal scraps in her library and proceeded to craft a familiar summoning cauldron. She found earlier a book that showed the crafting recipe.
