"Hello to you to." I said walking into the kitchen.
"I'm serious Maggie. Why were you with him? I told you how dangerous he is. You shouldn't be anywhere near him."
"He's not dangerous." I said.
"I told you about the rumours. His reputation is not something to be taken lightly."
"And I told you that I don't listen to rumours. I make my own mind up about people." I told him.
"Maggie how can you be this naive?"
"I am not naive. I'm a person, with a brain, who can make up her own mind about people." My tone of voice was getting louder as I was starting to get annoyed.
"Why can't you just tell me why you were with him?" He said.
"Why can't you understand its none of your business?" I argued.
"I thought we were close, Maggie; that we could tell eachother anything."
"Well if you stopped acting like you're my father, stopped treating me like a child and just politely, and calmly asked me why I was with him, then maybe I would tell you!" I didn't mean for that to come out. There was no way in hell I could tell him what I was doing tonight - he'd lock me in the basement then go and murder Daniel.
"I'm sorry, okay. I love you, and I worry. I just know his reputation and I don't want you to get hurt, that's all." He said.
"Im glad you care, Jake, but I'm not a child. I can make decisions for myself. And although they might not always be the right decisions, I have the right to make them." I told him.
"So why were you with him?" He asked, calmly this time. A part of me was tempted to tell him the truth but I know he'd over react.
"I'm tutoring him." It was the first thing that came into my head.
"You're tutoring him? Late at night? In his car?" He said, with skepticism.
"No, at his house. After we finished we went out to grab a burger." I lied.
"Why are you tutoring him, though?" He asked.
"Because my history teacher asked me to. Plus I get extra credit for doing it."
"But why-"
"Can we please save the Spanish equisition for tomorrow? I'm tired and I would like to go to bed." I asked him.
"Fine. But I don't like it." He said.
"Really? I couldn't tell." I said with sarcasm. "I'll be fine, Jake. You dont have to worry about me."
"I can't help it." He said.
"I know. Now goodnight." I said and I left the kitchen to go to my room.
As soon as I got there, I locked the door and looked to see that Daniel's blinds and window were shut, so I texted him to come to the window. A few seconds later his blind lifted and he opened the window.
"What's up?" He asked.
"My cousin saw me getting out of your truck and he asked me why I was with you and I couldn't tell him the truth, obviously, so I told him I was tutoring you for history class."
"You said what?!"
"Its sorry, it was the first thing that came to my mind, okay." I said.
"Did he at least buy it?"
"I think so. I mean he wasn't happy about it - he thinks you're this scary violent guy." I told him.
"Do you think that?" He asked.
"Violent? A little, but I trust that you keep that in the ring. And scary? No." I told him honestly.
"You know you're probably the only person who thinks that way."
"Yeah I've heard the rumors." I said.
"And you don't believe them?"
"I don't like rumors. Hate them, actually. I don't take them seriously, and decide for myself about a person." I said. He did that thing again where he was looking at me as if trying to figure me out.
"Anyway, I just wanted to give you a heads up about the tutoring thing, but I really need to go to bed. And you should, too. You're body needs time to heal." I told him and he nodded.
"Night."
"Night." He replied, before we both closed our windows.
