I walked across the grass to Daniel's and knocked on the door. As soon as he opened it and he saw me, his jaw dropped and his eyes widened; searching my entire body.
"Wow!" He eventually said.
"You like?" I asked, twirling.
"Uh-huh." He said; his eyes still looking me up and down and his mouth still open.
"You'll catch flies like that." I said, smirking, and he shook his shock away. He picked up his holdall and backpack and we left to into his truck.
"So did you see Jake?" He asked once we started driving.
"Yeah. You should've seen his face when he saw how I looked." I said.
"I bet. Did he say anything?"
"He asked me where I was going dressed like this and I said out with you and not to wait up."
"Haha! Really?! What was his face like?"
"I dunno. I walked out and slammed the door." I said. It was pretty childish, but damn it felt good!
"Nice." He said. "But listen, I know you don't like the idea of watching me fight, but I would feel much more comfortable if you were near the ring, tonight, so i can see you." He said.
"Why?"
"Honestly? You look incredible. Not that you don't, normally, but it's one thing me thinking that, because you can trust me, but there are guys who go to the club that wouldn't think twice about trying something with you. Seeing you at the side of the ring will ease my fears, somewhat."
Its official. I want Daniel Carter!
But focus, Maggie!
"If it will make you feel better, then sure." I said with a smile.
"Good. Plus, maybe you'll distract my opponent so I can win." He said, winking at me.
"Says the 15 time undefeated fighter. You dont need to have him distracted - you'll kick his ass because you're amazing at fighting." I said and he glanced at me.
"You know what? I think I got it wrong - I think I may be the one whose distracted tonight." I saw the side of his mouth rise up into a half smile. And of course, once again, the guy made me blush.
We arrived at the club not too long later and this time he introduced me to the security guards.
"Hey, Brian, Greg.." He shook both of their hands. "This is my friend, Maggie."
"Hi." I said to them.
"Hi sweetheart."
"Hey, gorgeous."
"Back it up guys, your both married, remember." Daniel said.
"Spoil our fun why don't you." Brian said. Daniel rolled his eyes at them and they stepped aside to let us through. We went straight to the back room and we dumped our stuff on the table.
I walked over to use the bathroom and when I was done I opened the door to see Daniel by the table facing me wearing only his boxers. I couldn't help my eyes from going straight to where they shouldn't have gone and my face flushed.
He smirked, but said nothing, only picking up his shorts from the table and putting them on. He walked to the door and gestured me over.
"See the corner closest to us?" He said, opening the door slightly ajar, "That's my corner. That's where you'll sit, okay?"
"Right." I said. Just then, a man walked up to us and told Daniel there was 1 minute until the fight.
"You better get out there." He said. Before I knew it, I had leaned up on my tip toes and kissed him on the cheek.
"Good luck." I said, and walked in the direction of the ring.
I thought I would hate seeing Daniel fight. But seeing him up there in the ring all sweaty and bleeding slightly... it was hot!
He was incredible. He moved around the ring like he was made of air; ducking the swing of his opponant's punches, and reigning down blows with his own.
The fight lasted less time than I expected; Daniel, or rather, The Sedative, being crowned the victor. When the referee announced his win and lifted Daniel's arm up, his eyes looked straight at me. I was standing, cheering with the rest of the crowd and I couldn't help but feel a wave of pride run through me.
He left the ring and came straight to me, engulfing me in a hug. He was bloody and sweaty but I didn't care. He released the hug, placing a kiss on my cheek before taking my hand and leading us back to the room.
As we entered, he let go of my hand and took a bottle of water from his bag and drank it.
"So what did you think? Was it as horrible to watch as you thought it would be?"
"Are you kidding me?! That was incredible! You were incredible!" I told him. He smiled as I walked over to the table, sitting down and taking what I needed from his backpack.
"Yeah?" He asked, sitting down in front of me.
"Is it weird that I felt a bit of pride, watching you up there?." I said.
I dipped a cotton ball in the antiseptic and started tending to the small cut above his eye.
"Not weird, at all." He said. His face was close to mine so I could clean it up, and his breath was fanning my face. My eyes moved down from his cut to his eyes. They were looking intently into mine. Once again his eyes flickered down to my lips, and they parted of their own accord.
"Ay, Danny. Manager wants to see you." Came a voice from outside the door, making us both jump.
I'm going to stab whoever that was.
"Uh... you dont need stitches this time." I said, picking up a plaster and placing it above his eye.
"Thanks." He said getting up and putting a tshirt on. "I'm going to see what the manager wants then we can go, okay?"
"Sure." I said and he left the room.
That was the second almost kiss we have had. Both times it hasn't happened because someone has interrupted us. Was there some kind of mythical force stopping it from happening?
