Mabel quivered beneath the water, holding her breath, trying not to move.
Her twin hid his face with his wings, not wanting to look.Ford and Stan called the names of the great nephew and niece, their voices echoing through the cavernous cave, receiving no reply.
Ford tried again, Stan shining the torch so they could see where they were going in this abyss-like cave, one of the bats hid his face with his wings.
"I could have sworn they were in here" Ford whispered.
"So? if they ARE in here, let's find them, pointdexter!" Stan replied."Keep your voice down!" Ford hissed, Stan shut up.
Mabel flattened her wings under the water, trying not to move or make any sound.
"Dipper? Mabel?" Ford called out, his voice echoing in the cavernous cave, Stan sighed with impatience as his brother called out for their great nephew and niece again.
Stan shone the torch up at the ceiling again, a bat was looking at him; the creature hissed angrily and bared its fangs, making the elder man yelp in shock and throw his torch at the bat.It squeaked and fell to the floor with a soft thud when the object collided with its right wing.
"Stan? did you find something?" Ford asked, glancing at Stan who was staring at the bat.The bat squeaked in reply, looking up at the two men.
Ford ignored the creature and looked for the twins. Then he got an idea; if there was anything Mabel loved, it was games.
"Oh,I wonder where Mabel has got to" he said in a singing tone, Mabel giggled beneath the water."Is she here?" Ford asked, seeing wings beneath the water.
There was a loud splash as Mabel emerged from, the pool.
"HERE I AM!" Mabel yelled, making her Great Uncle Ford chuckle softly.
"Wha? i-if that's Mabel, then where's Dipper?" Stan asked, mentally annoyed at himself for stammering slightly.Suddenly there was a thunderclap and an explosion of black smoke, Dipper was sitting on his haunches in place of the bat. His red eyes were aglow in anger and he held onto his shoulder.
"Stan? what did you do?" Ford asked, facepalming.
"I saw a bat and thought it was gonna attack me! what was I supposed to do?" Stan retorted.
"Maybe not throw a torch at my shoulder!" Dipper growled, still rather peeved.
"Sorry, Dipper" Stan grunted as he looked at the floor.
Mabel rolled her eyes and looked at her brother. "You alright?"
"I'm gonna feel that tomorrow" Dipper complained, standing up. "W-wait...it was just you two trying to find us on your own, wasn't it?" he added. Mabel stared in fear while her wings shook out, trying to dry off."Yes, just us" Ford reassured the young twins.
"You're not scared?" Mabel asked in confusion. Ford chuckled, as did Stan."Kid! you're in Gravity Falls!" Stan said with another hearty laugh. "Anything can happen! heck, we've dealt with demons, zombies and more weird stuff! Although, you could make a lot of cash for us" he pondered. Dipper glared, his fangs sparkled in his menacing scowl.
"We are NOT attractions! we're family, grunkle Stan!" he snarled, running to Stan with unnatural speed.
"Yeah!" chorused Mabel.
"The kids are right, Stan. They can't be exploited!" Ford said sternly.
"But-"
"But nothing! Now, if you excuse me, I have to make a call" Ford said, retrieving his phone from his pocket and quickly dialing a number.
Mabel got out of the pool and dried off, then held her brother's hand; the vampire could feel the fairy trembling as all four of them silently waited for the person at the other end to answer.
