Warning: This first chapter is very cringey, I promise it gets better as you go.
"No, Gin, I most definitely not that one." we were picking out bathing suits in Diagon Alley for the picnic we were going to have the following day, and Ginny kept picking up the most showy bikinis. For me, of all people.
"Not that one either." I said as she held up a red number with a round ring in the center of the top part. She grinned.
"Well, there's a special someone I know who would like it."
"No, reds not really Ron's colour, do you think?"
"You know I'm not talking about Ron. And it's you who's going to wear it."
I realised who she was talking about and went scarlet. "Well, it's not Fred's, either."
She rolled her eyes. "Well, I'm going to buy it for you to wear whether you like it or not, and I expect you to wear my gift to you tomorrow."
I pouted and she grinned, knowing she had got to me.
We apparated to the Burrow, where Mrs.Weasley was cooking dinner. The twins were already there, and so was Ron.
"Hey, Hermione?" Ron asked tentatively.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Can I talk to you? Upstairs?"
"Ooo...Kay?" I followed him up the stairs to his room, where he told me in a serious tone,
"Look. I love you, just not in a relationship way, and I think... I think we should break up."
"Okay." I said. "Same for me." I held out my hand, and he shook it. "Shall we go down, then?" (TO ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE COMMENTS I KNOW IT WAS A SHORT BREAKUP BUT I NEEDED TO GET RON OUT OF THE WAY)
"Yeah." we bounded down the stairs, and Ginny gave me a questioning look, so I told her that I'd tell her what happened after dinner. After we finished our food, Ginny dragged me up to her room so she could interrogate me. After I told her what Ron said, her whole face lit up and she said,
"Well, that's great! You and Fred can be together now!" I looked at her sternly.
"I'm not going to jump right into another relationship right after I just ended one!"
"Well, my point is, you're a free agent now. So um," she had a coughing fit and I could hear her say "Fred," barely audible.
"Y'know, I think I'm just gonna read and go to bed." I told her. "I'm tired." I changed and as soon as my head hit the pillow, I was fast asleep.
