Forgotten Love (short story) [Needs Editing]

Will you go with me?

Mirani

These past few days since school started I only get to see Lio in the mornings and barely after school. I knew it was going to be hard but not this hard. Why is it that now he doesn't look for me at lunch? He's always busy eating with the jocks and stuck up chicks, as I call them. Ugh oh well.

As of right now I'm not really excited about the fall dance that everyone is talking about. I don't have a boyfriend or a date. Yet I'm sitting in math class wondering about what it would be like to go to the dance with Lio. Off in my own fantasy world, when I'm forced back into reality with a hard slap on my back. I turn around and it's my only female friend Ginamarie. She laughs and hands me a note.

"Open it I wonder who it's from", she says. I just stare at it for a good five minutes without opening it. I'm nervous because the only person I get notes from is Gina. I know so pathetic but it's true. I finally decide to open it and it reads:

"Mirani Fernandez,

This coming Friday is the fall dance and I was wondering if you would do me the honor of being my date? If you accept and I hope that you do please meet me at the school's main entrance after class...

William Hall"

Did I just get asked to the dance? It feels great in a way because it's the first time I've been asked to a dance. I tell Gina and we both let out an excited yes! I haven't decided yet but it is still fun to think about.

Lio

I don't understand what's the big deal about a dance. I'm not really interested in going, I don't really have someone I want to ask out. I've been asked out by ten different girls already and I've rejected them all. The guys are saying it's important to attend because it's our last year of high school but I don't know it's not my style. I guess I'll go even if it's just for a little.

Even though I'm not interested in any girl right now I have an idea. I could possibly go with Mimi, I'm sure she's not going with anyone. Plus she's my best friend she can't say no. She would probably laugh at the idea of us going together anyways. But I can always use my pouting face to convince her. I can't help but smile to myself.

Mimi's pretty even if she doesn't realize it. She has mid long curly light brown hair with hazel green chinky eyes. She's light skinned and curvy and has one of the most perfect shaped lips that are a natural rosy pink. She's sweet and understanding she's like a sister to me. Any guy would be lucky to have her but will have to deal with me if she ever gets her heart broken.

I finally thought about it and decided I'm going to the dance with William. Once math class was over I made my way down the corridor. Hoping to meet up with him, when I see Lio approaching. He has this big smile on his face as if he's up to something.

"Hey, Mimi what's up?" He asks. "I just wanted to know if you're going to the fall dance?" I look at him in confusion he's never mentioned a school dance before, he usually criticizes how cheesy they are. "As a matter of fact I am! I just got asked out, I'll talk to you later," I blurted without hesitation and hurried to meet up with William.

I look back and Lio looked as if he'd been slapped in the face. I couldn't help it he hasn't even tried looking for me at all until now. Oh well payback.

I see William tall with bright blonde hair just standing at the entrance waiting for me. I tried to run up and scare him but he saw me coming. He's so cute he has such a perfect smile it makes me smile just looking at him.

"I take it as a yes for the dance?" He asks. "Oh this is for you", he hands me a box with a small bow. Oh no this is not what I expected I hope he's not asking me to be his girlfriend. "What's wrong Mirani can't I give you a thank you gift?" He quickly asks noticing my hesitation. I smile while slowly nodding yes.

I open the box and it's a bracelet with a key charm. "It's beautiful William thank you but you didn't have to," I say while staring at the charm it's a key covered in glitter. "I'm glad you like it, pick you up at 7 o'clock Friday! He said and ran off not giving me a chance to give it back, how ruuuude. I guess I'll keep it though so I don't make him feel bad, plus it's shiny.

Lio

Okay right now I am feeling a bit senile. Is it me or was Mimi avoiding me? She nearly cut me off and walked away without letting me say anything else. I don't get it.

Someone asked her out hmmm but who? I'm her best friend she should be telling me, I tell her everything we were barely inseparable attached like glue. Ohhh. Now I get it how stupid can I be, she must be livid.

She needs to understand I haven't been avoiding or forgetting her I've just been a little caught up. I'll call her later and clear everything up.

Now what about the fall dance I can't just show up alone. I have to ask someone to accompany me. Someone who is full of herself and wouldn't take this more than just a dance. Someone like.... Mandy Maxwell!!
