Fall Dance

Mirani

Wednesday evening Lio called me and told me he was sorry that we haven't been able to hang out together. That he's been a little busy but that I'll always be his best friend. That made me feel a lot better.

Today is Friday the day of the Fall dance. I already have my dress and since my mom is a hairdresser she will be doing my hair. I'm excited even though I will be going with someone else and not the guy I like.

I wonder if Lio will be going and will he show up with a date? If he does it's going to be one awkward night. But he would've told me if he was, so I'm sure he's not going.

Lio

I'm going to the mall to get something to wear tonight. I'm not too enthusiastic about it but I still have to look good. I was shocked that Mandy actually said yes because I would've thought out of all girls, she would already have a date.

Finally I'm done buying what I need. I start walking towards the direction that I parked my car and some guy at a mall stand stops me. He was awkwardly short with a big nose and smelled surprisingly fruity like strawberry kiwi.

"Hey young man you're looking for true love right?" He asked me. I tried to ignore him because what does he know? He's probably trying to promote an insufficient product anyway. "With this lock key chain you are sure to find her... your true love, it will light up at the sight of her. That indicates love that is everlasting," he is persistent. So I grab the key chain and reach into my pocket to get my wallet and pay him. When I look up he is nowhere to be found not even his stand.

I really don't have time for this I put the keychain in my pocket and my wallet and head to my car.

William

I'm on my way to pick up Mirani for the fall dance... boy.. am I happy. I've had hidden feelings for her since middle school. She's not a popular snotty girl, she's intelligent, sweet and independent. I've always hesitated to talk to her or ask her out because she's always with that jock Lio. I could never tell whether they were dating or just plain friends.

This year it's going to be different though I'm not hiding it anymore and I'm going to tell her how I feel right after the dance.

I arrive at her house and I'm a little nervous... after all... I am picking up my dream date. Just thinking about her makes me smile. I start walking to her door when I see Lio coming out of his house. He must be going to the dance too. What an idiot how could he pass on a opportunity to go with Mirani. Anyone would've thought they'd go together,since everyday as long as I could remember they've been stuck on each other.

Enough of that William. Another man's loss is another man's treasure or at least that's what I like to say.

I knock on the door and there she is in a beautiful royal blue dress a little above her knees. It compliments her curves perfectly and silver sparkly heels. I can't deny it she's beyond beautiful I'm definitely a lucky guy tonight.

Mirani

I was looking out the window and saw Lio leaving all dressed up. He looks so handsome and charming, he looked in my direction. I jumped back and the shades were left rocking side to side. I hope he didn't see me.

There was a knock on the door, I go to open and it's William. He is definitely a good looking guy with great taste he is dressed in a all black suit with a royal blue shirt inside and dressy black shoes. He offers me his hand and leads me to his car.

On our way to the dance I notice William keeps staring at my legs but I guess it's normal he is a guy, right? It makes me feel uncomfortable. I shake the feeling off and focus on getting to the dance and having a great time.

When we arrived to the dance, I spotted Gina standing talking to Lio. I really can't believe it beside him is Mandy and she's holding him by the arm. He didn't even tell me? Some best friend he is. What hurts the most is that he looks so happy next to her.

William is staring at me I try and play it off, so I grab his arm as well. I put on a fake smile and walk towards them. Gina spots me first and waves her hands calling us over.

Lio looks at me and smiles. What a jerk he still has the nerve to look cute melt my heart and make me go numb. All while having another girl by his side as his date. I'm furious but I can't let that show, I smile back.

"Well who would've thought," Mandy said breaking the silence. "Mirani and William together, y'all look great." She winks at me. Ugh I can't stand her. "What's the surprise? That's exactly why I accepted to come with him, nice of you to notice," I mockingly replied.

Lio

When I see Mimi walking over with William I couldn't help but smile. I don't smile because of them being together but of how beautiful she is, of course she would have a date. Why wouldn't she?

"Mimi you look beautiful I'm glad to see you and William together, you better take care of her," I said without realizing. "She's my best friend... no... more like a sister so be good." I smile but I can see him grinning when I said it. "Oh don't worry tonight will be memorable for both Mirani and me. You have ABSO...LUTE...LY nothing to worry about," he replied while not taking his eyes off me. I don't know what his problem is but I'll keep my eye on him for sure.

Mirani

I can't help but feel uncomfortable about this whole thing. "Well you guys have fun William and I will get going," I pull him away. He doesn't hesitate and walks with me then suddenly he stops me and grabs my shoulders. "Are you ok?" He asks. I nodded yes. "Can we just get out of here? I ask him. He doesn't ask anymore questions he just grabs my hand and leads me to the garden.

We stop and sit on a bench in front of the water fountain. There is no one but William and I here. He turns to me, "Mirani I know you like Lio but he doesn't see you like that, he sees you like a sister." He pauses. "I like you I've always liked you, give me a chance."

I just sat there, he started caressing my face and then planted a kiss on me. I slapped him with tears running down my cheeks. I tried to get up when he grabbed my arm and pulled me down against him and tried kissing me again I tried pushing him off me, he grabbed me tighter. For some reason I couldn't scream I couldn't yell, like if I were in some type of horrifying nightmare. I struggled and struggled until suddenly when I tried getting up I fell back. My head it hurts, the lights I don't see anything what's going on? All I feel is excruciating pain in the back of my head. It must be a nightmare I'm awake but can't open my eyes, I can't move all I can do is lay here hopelessly. I feel myself dosing off.

Lio

I'm looking all over and I don't see Mirani or William anywhere. I start asking if anyone has seen them and no one has. I decide to look in the garden I don't see anyone, all of a sudden I see someone run but I can't see who it's completely dark.

I hear someone grunting in pain and then a loud sound startles me, when I look all I see is blood, lots of blood. So many thoughts running through my mind when I see Mirani on the ground covered in her own blood.

I run over to her and as I kneel next to her I can't hold my tears back. I pick her up and run to my car. "Mi...mi Mimi can you hear me?" I try talking to her, but she's not responding. "Mimi please don't die please I'm begging you", I plead.
