After school it was pouring cold rain. Wow what a perfect day. It's all my fault. I should of known something was wrong, but my stupid head couldn-Ugh! I turned to the brick wall and punched it. I regretted it right after doing it, my knuckles cracked with red starting to drip off them.
I didn't want to go home. I would just go in my room and cry and I was done doing that. Someone tapped me on the shoulder, I turned to see Dylan standing behind me with a small smile. I shoved my bloody hand into my pocket.
"Dylan I-" I say but couldn't get the rest out of my mouth. It felt like my throat was tightening, it was hard to breath.
"Did you drive here?" He says. I shake my head.
"I'll give you a ride home then." He says pulling out his keys. Dylan started to walk towards his car when I pulled on his sleeve to make him stop. Dylan turned his blue eyes bright. His eyes reminded me of a lake that wasn't quite green, but had blue swirled into it.
"I don't want to go home." I say looking to the ground. When I glanced back up at Dylan he smiled.
"Where do you want to go?" He says. Dylan was wearing a gray long sleeve shirt with black skinny jeans. I turned his question over in my head a couple times until I smiled.
"The park." I say "can we go to the picnic area so we don't get wet from the rain?"
Dylan laughed and nodded he then opened up his dark blue back pack and pulled out a jacket. He lifted the jacket up over his head. We stared at each other for what felt like forever until Dylan finally interrupted the silence.
"Come here so you don't get wet," he said walking towards me . I don't think I will ever understand Dylan. He was too kind, caring, and he just reminds me of when we were kids, even though Dylan looks nothing like he did when he was younger.
Dylan had brown shaggy hair that almost covered his bright blue/green eyes. When Dylan was younger he was clueless, I had the biggest crush on him when I was 6 years old. I told Dylan I would marry him,
He didn't agree, he pushed me and yelled "cooties". I wanted to laugh at my younger self, Dylan was only my friend. Just my friend.Dylan's chest brushed against my back as we walked to his car, his jacket covering both of us. Before we got to the car I turned towards Dylan and rested my hands on his chest. Dylan stopped a soft gasp escaping his lips. I slide my hands down to his hips, then as fast as I could I grabbed his keys from his pocket and ran to his car.
"Hey!" Dylan shouts behind me as I sprint, laughing the rest of the way to his car. I unlock the car and try to jump in before he can reach the car. Before I can get in the car Dylan wraps his hands around my waist and pulls me back.
"Come on Tabby," he says, his warm breath against my ear. The rain was coming down harder than it was before. Dylan releases me, and I turn to face him frowning.
"You can't out run me," he says pointing to himself "I'm the gingerbread man."
"What?" I say "Gingerbread man?"
"It was the first thing that came out, okay? Give me a break I can't always have a comeback." He says looking down at my hands, he then frowned dropping the soaking wet jacket from his hands. Dylan opened the back door instead of the front and pulled me in his back seat with him.
"What?" I say shutting the door behind me.
"What happened?" He said his hand hovering above mine before he looked up at me. "Can I-can I look at you're hand?"
"Dylan." I say covering the bloody hand and turned to look out the window.
"Hey Mrs. Lawrence." Dylan said into his phone. I turned to face him reaching the grab the phone.
"What are you doing?" I whisper angered.
"Oh I'm good, I was wondering if it would be okay if Tabitha came over for dinner." Dylan looked at me with his stupid smile. "Yes. You want to talk to her? Yes." Dylan brings the phone to my ear.
"Tabitha?" My mother says.
"Yes." I say glaring at Dylan.
"Do you want to have dinner with Dylan's family?" She said eagerly.
"Um... Yes?" I say "I would like to-" I hear my mother laugh.
"Oh thank goodness, please. Tabitha you need to stop pushing people away. Call me when you're done I'll have your father pick you up!" She then hung up.
"Dylan!" I say pushing him. "Why did you do that?"
"Because I didn't want your mother to worry and now you forced to hang out with me." He's said with that stupid smile.
