Caine pushed the door of the hall open and was immediately met by Veronica and her red lipstick. She was talking rapidly to Mr.Emric but stopped as soon as she saw Caine. V gave a wide, fake smile and ushered him out the door again, pointing to a sign which read 'senior hall ->'. He followed the sign until he came across Alex and another girl, who he did not know, standing against the doorframe.
When Alex spotted Caine she smiled - a genuine one - and introduced Caine to the girl.
"This is Youeun, she has a brother the same age as Jay." Alex led them both through the crowded hall as several people's heads turned to see the New Boy. It took a while since Alex had a lot of friends. Several people nodded at Caine, including a two boys speaking in loud American accents.
Youeun was silent but as they reached the table, she spoke in a high, pretty voice to Carlos, who looked as sullen as ever.
"He is very attractive, I agree." She said, completely unaware that Caine's face had flushed redder than Jordan's hair.
A familiar ebony skinned boy moved up to make room for Caine to sit. He took it gladly and looked away as his stomach groaned, loudly.
"Come get food with me," a deep voice said, next his ear. "I could do with some company."
Caine looked up to meet the eyes of Jordan who had an eyebrow raised. "Sure."
He got up and started to walk with Jordan but was quickly surrounded by a group of girls with very short skirts.
"Hey," said one particularly beady eyed girl, " My name's Alicia. This is nasya (a blonde girl waved shyly at Caine), Adrianna (a pair of brown eyes gazed up at him. He quickly looked back at Alicia), jasmine and Zainab. They're twins but don't try anything with Zainab because she has a boyfriend."
Two identical twins, both wearing black crop tops and with Indian features, giggled at Caine.
"Hi. I'm Jasmine." She said before spluttering Into fits of giggles again.
"I'm Zainab. And there's my boyfriend." A very tough looking boy with cropped hair kissed her passionately on the lips. For a very long time. A very. Long. Time. They broke apart for air, and waved at Caine whilst everyone else looked incredibly uncomfortable.
"Hi, I'm Caine." Caine said, looking at the others.
"We know, Nasya said she saw you with Alex and Alex told Youeun who told Akrum who told Nasya that your name was Caine." Adrianna smiled.
"I'm really hungry, so I'll catch you guys later.." Said Caine who had seen Jordan edging away, slowly. The girls were sent into peals of laughter, all except Zainab,who seemed intent on eating her boyfriends face.
Caine avoided eye contact with anyone except for Jordan but was introduced to several others. He was relieved that the other girls he met weren't quite as giggly as the first group who had approached him.
Jordan kept strangely silent, his eyeliner making him seem dark. When they got to the food, Caine made sure that Jordan went first so as to see what he actually did. He was disappointed when Jordan simply said to the staff serving;"The usual. But no ketchup."
Caine ended up getting pancakes and a muffin. A short while later, he and Jordan made a beeline back to the table where Andreas had kept the seat free for Caine. Jordan took it instead and shooed a small kid who looked about 10, away so that Caine would be able to sit next to him.
"Jordan," Caine said. "How come everyone seems so freaked out about you? I bumped into the anti-emo trinity and they wanted me to keep away from you."
