Aravae

Ch. 5

~Last time on Eternal Flight~

"He eats anything he sees. I'm sure he will." Sehthi said, making me smile towards him.

"Let us eat. Please enjoy your meals." I said, picking up my fork before slowly starting to eat.

~Now~

The king and his knights stayed for two weeks, learning and seeing how things were done around the village. On the last day, we arranged a picnic to be held near the lake behind the castle.

"I'm so excited!" Meira said, bouncing around as we all gathered outside our rooms.

"For what? The picnic or getting to see Daevin and Havain?" Aravae teased, getting her a smack upside the head from the older one.

"Little bit of both." Meira mumbled, crossing her arms over her chest.

We all laughed before heading out to the castle doors, where the king and his knights were waiting for us.

"It is sad that today is our last day here until your coronation." Jazair said, making the four girls whine.

"It is, but the coronation isn't that far away." I said, walking next to him as we left the castle and walked towards the carriages.

"Just a few weeks away and you'll be officially crowned queen." he said, helping me into our carriage.

The ride was quite, minus the wheels hitting the dirt and rocks bellow. As we arrived Jazair finally spoke up again.

"What are your thoughts on marriage?" he asked, making me jump a little at the sudden sound.

"I'm not sure. I've never actually given it much thought, as I am only sixteen. I suppose though, that one day I will have to marry." I said, climbing out of the carriage as he helped me down.

"Do you not want to marry?" he asked, looking at me confused.

"I do, but I want to marry a person I love. My parents, from what i've been told, did not like each other at all in the beginning of their marriage. My mom was against arranged marriage, but was given no choice and married my father. They did grow to love each other, after I was born. The war happened when I was three so there isn't much I know of my parents relationship." I said, sitting down on the blanket that was laid out.

"I suppose I would want to marry for love as well." he said, making me look at him confused.

"You are not married yet?" I asked, looking at him with big eyes.
