Blue

Maine has been looking forward to their trip the past few weeks. Both her and RJ had been busy with back to back work. News from the network's high ups broke to management that their next project will be a teleserye together. Naturally, both were excited to work in closer proximity and just spend more time together personally. They are in that gray zone - not just friends friends, not in a relationship yet exclusively dating. The Mega Magazine shoot to Morocco added to their excitement, even if they were only there for less than a week.

For Maine and RJ, a week abroad is a luxury. The shoot was planned for 2 days , and they both agreed to have one full day to just be normal, regular people.

3 days into the scheduled flight, things changed.

"Meng, I just found out that I have to leave on Thursday. Leaving Friday won't get me back in time for the book launch."

"What? But I thought we would be doing our own thing for one day? Pumayag pa naman si Nanay na tayong dalawa lang all day na mamasyal, since hirap tayo gawin dito."

"I know, I am so sorry. Magulo ang timezones at baka di umabot sa Sunday launch. Bawi ako, promise. Kahit mag weekend tayo sa Eskaya, kasama pa sila Coleen. Kinausap ko na si Mama Ten, ipapa-reserve yung 2 villa..."

"Fine, it's for work. Ayaw ko magtampo kasi I don't want us fighting at matagal pa ang byahe. Baka mapanis laway ko pag di kita kinausap sa eroplano."

"Meng, me isa pa akong sasabihin, makinig ka muna ha. Wag muna magalit. Di ako makaksabay sa original flight. In-adjust ng management. So I'll be a few hours behind you."

Maine just shook her head. Nothing seems to be going into plan. She wanted to have him all by herself on this flight, even if they just slept. You're being irrational , Maine. Of course he can't control it. Pero kasi, ngayon it feels like namamadali lahat. Prang ok work / shoot / uwi na ang peg! She sighed dramatically before she spoke.

"Me magagawa pa ba ako eh napalitan na?"

"Meng naman. Alam mo naman na gagawin ko lahat di ba."

"Ok fine, basta yun na yun. Wag na nating pagtalunan ang mga bagay na di natin ma control."

RJ was relieved that she spoke so calmly that he rushed to her and hugged her tight. Maine could not think of anything else once he held her, her (mild) frustration vanishing as his lips touched her forehead. Bwiset nadadala ako agad sa akap at halik, leche ka RJ! Isa kang walking gayuma! Her eyes rolling upward yet she couldn't help but hug him back.

Everything went on swimmingly afterwards. There were no delays in their flights , so the shoot went on as planned. On the second day, Maine started to get antsy because RJ was leaving the following day. While professional during the shoot, she barely looked at him and when she did, she would give him pointed looks. "Sayang ang Thursday "was all she can think about and ending up more frustrated as she remembered how excited she was last week.

When the shoot was done, RJ asked Nanay Mary Ann if he could take her to dinner. She agreed, but Maine immediately said "Wag na, RJ. Mag aayos ka pa ng gamit di ba?" Then she walked out.

Startled, RJ looked at Nanay Mary Ann. "Iho, mukhang parating ang dinosaur. Wag mo na lang kulitin muna, maiksi lalo pisi nyan."

"Eh paano po, Nay di na po kami mag uusap hanggang pag alis ko?" RJ worriedly asked, scratching his nape. Nanay Mary Ann just shrugged and told him to be patient and went back to her emails.

After RJ packed up, he tried to find Maine. No one seemed to know where she was, and neither Nanay Mary Ann or her picked up. He finally left a note under their door asking Maine to see him or even call him as soon as she sees it.

He kept on pacing in his room. It was almost 10pm and nothing from her. RJ ended up sitting by their door , just to make sure he does not miss her and ended up closing his eyes.

RJ felt something beside him move and his eyes fluttered open. Maine was sittig next to him, eyes wide. "It's 11pm na, go to your room, so you have time to rest before your flight."

"Are you mad? Sorry, I mean, I know I told you last week pero I get the feeling na me delayed reaction ka kaya tinatabla mo ako."

'"Medyo at magkaka regla na ako", maine deadpanned. RJ squirmed, blushing furiously making Maine laugh.

"TMI ba? Sorry, bes!"

"bes? Bes lang?"

"Kaya din ako dramarama kasi po, sana bukas ang araw na di na tayo mag bes. Kaso aalis ka na. So...."

RJ eyes widened. "You mean, yung tayo na talaga?"

"Ewan ko sayo, bes. Antok ka na ata. Matulog ka na. Loveyoubye." Maine gets up , plants one on his lips and opens her door , blows him another kiss, and winks. RJ stands up and just stares at the door.

The next day, Maine gets a knock on her door. Nanay comes back with a small bag. Inside she finds a pack of sanitary pads, a small bottle of Advil, and 4 packs of dark chocolates and a note :

"My Menggay,

I am blue without you. Hope this helps battle the dinosaur. Love you.

RJ

P.s. I miss you already & I haven't even left. "

She laughs and calls him to have breakfast. Together.

The next time RJ gets a txt , he is on the plane. Maine sends a picture of herself, lips pouting, in Jardin Majorelle, in front of a blue wall, with the caption : "I am blue without you as well. 💙 I miss you more. Last week pa kitang miss. See you soon."
