Everybody has a spirit and you can become a spirit master if you have a strong spirit.
There is a spirit awakening for everybody at the age of six. During the spirit awakening, you get to know your spirit and what your spirit power is. Rank 1 being the lowest and Rank 10 being the highest. Having a Rank 10 spirit power means you have Innate Full Spirit Power.
There are 100 ranks for Spirit Masters.
1-10 : Spirit Scholar
11 - 20 : Spirit Master
21 - 30 : Spirit Grandmaster
31 - 40 : Spirit Elder
41 - 50 : Spirit Ancestor
51 - 60 : Spirit King
61 - 70 : Spirit Emperor
71 - 80 : Spirit Sage
81 - 90 : Spirit Douluo
91 - 99 : Title Douluo
100: Title God
You get a new spirit ring after every ten levels. You get a spirit ring by killing spirit beasts and you gain abilities according to your spirit and what kind of spirit beast you killed.
Spirit beasts' rings are also split into different colors depending on how old the spirit beast is.
White : 10 Year Spirit Ring
Yellow : 100 Year Spirit Ring
Purple : 1,000 Year Spirit Ring
Black : 10,000 Year Spirit Ring
Red : 100,000 Year Spirit Ring
Gold : 1,000,000 Year Spirit Ring
