Calling All Angels

Chapter 12: Back Track

With their freedom, Jade continued to drive way over the speed limit to get back to safety.

The ride was deadly silent, no one spoke a word. Jade was still driving as the night slowly turned to day. In the back, everyone was asleep, Haven and Jade were the only two awake but no one spoke, it was just silence. That was until Haven spoke.

"Jade, what the fuck are we going to do? We have our rival gang in the back of the car, are we just going to ignore the rivalry and take care of the humans or what?" She spoke with anger laced in her hushed voice, obviously frustrated with the whole thing. Jade just sighed and responded quietly, "Relax, Haven. I only knew about the Reptilian Brotherhood and the Scarlet Undead Clan. I didn't know about any other ones, especially the magicians. From what I've witnessed, the magicians and the vampires have formed an alliance, while the reptiles and our clan have formed one." She paused and muttered quietly, "This isn't going to be good."

Haven furrowed her eyebrows at Jade, "Why isn't it going to be good?" Jade glanced at Haven then turned her attention back onto the road, "This is going to cause a huge war between us, all of us, even the humans." Haven only nodded, taking a moment to comprehend the information.

Two hours passed, the sun was slowly rising over the horizon, Haven was now driving while Jade sat in the passenger seat, resting. By now, everyone was awake in the back. Trevor glanced hatefully at Logan while Logan did the same to him, Ray and Wesley. Jinx and Ashley were whispering to each other, obviously trying to come up with a plan to get out of there.

As Haven was driving, she came up with a plan. Knowing the alliances, she thought of a way to get rid of the enemies. Smirking, she pulled off of the expressway and onto an exit ramp labeled "Rest Area." As she parked the large van, she got out and walked towards the large back door and opened it.

"If anyone has to use the bathroom, do it now." Haven spoke with authority, her voice loud. Everyone scrambled out of the back and started walking towards the restrooms, except Trevor, Ray and Wesley since they were part of the same clan and Easton. Trevor glared at Ray which only made Ray step closer to Haven.

"All of you, get in the car now. We have to go." Trevor easily realized what she was doing and jumped into the back, Easton, Ray and Wesley following, confused. Quickly, Haven ran to the driver's side and hopped in, starting it and pulling away from the rest area. Faintly, you could hear the others protesting and begging for them to come back, but that only made Haven pick up the speed.

In the back, Ray looked at Trevor pleadingly while Trevor ignored his existence. "Trevor come on, I'm sorry. I had to do it, Jinx forced me to." Trevor only scoffed. "Trevor, I'm begging you. She forced me to do it or else she would've killed me. Everyone on that team would've killed me. You have to believe me." Trevor finally looked at him and nodded.

"You better not do shit like that again, Ray or else next time, I'll be the one to kill you." Trevor's voice was deep and venomous, Ray easily nodded eagerly. "Thank you, Trevor." He whispered. Trevor then tapped on the window that was on a door and led to the front of the cab, Jade turned around and opened it.

"Why didn't we keep Damien with us?" Trevor asked, his curiosity getting the best of him. Jade's eyes went dark and blank, "That's a long story." She said, taking a glance at Haven then back at Trevor. "It's a long ride," Trevor insisted, obviously wanting to know. Jade sighed and unbuckled, opening the door that led to the cab and stepping into it, shutting the door behind her and sitting next to Trevor.
