DO NOT PLAY THE SONG YET!
The Next Day:
The day has been going pretty smoothly for the most part. I had no incidents and Nick is suppose to meet me in front of the cafeteria at lunch. Before I knew it, lunchtime arrived and Nick was waiting for me right where I told him to wait. He waved at me as I approached him. I sighed.
"Hey Emma!"
"Hey Nick."
Where are we going?"
"Follow me. "
We walked to the bandroom. I opened up the door to the sound room
Take a seat in there. I'll be right back. I have to put my violin away."
"Alright."
He went inside the soundroom while I went to the locker room right next to the sound room. I sigh and shake my head.
"I can't believe I'm doing this. What was I thinking, agreeing to be alone with him."
I put my violin away and I go to the soundroom, shut the door, and sat down in a chair next to the piano in the room.
"Why are we here of all places?"
"Do you not remember kissing me Nick? I'm still ashamed of showing my face around campus."
"Oh... I'm sorry. Really, I am."
"Its too late for that now."
"Anyway, I asked to hang out with you so I can get to know you, so tell me about yourself."
"Okay well I like heavy metal and punk rock, I like peppermint tea, and I live with my father. We're living with my grandmother until we can get back on our feet. My dad is in school for welding and HVAC right now."
"Oh I see. Where's your mom?
"She abandoned me three times. Twice when I was six months and again when I was eight. I haven't seen her since. She's in Colorado with three other kids now."
"Oh, I'm sorry. That must be hard for you."
"Meh. Its okay really. To be honest, I'm used to it by now. Its made me the independent person that I am today. I can take care of myself."
"Did you wish that she was still around though?"
"No. It would be a hectic household if she stayed. My mom and dad fought every night when she was around. Funny thing is, they actually fought about whose last name I'll have. My mom won the arguement so I have her last name."
"Whitman?"
"How do you know my last name."
"I did my research."
"And this is why you scare me."
"Hahahahaha. I'm kidding. I saw your last name on one of your papers when I was helping you pick up your papers that fell out of your binder."
"Oh. Well, then I have to say, nice memory..."
"Thanks."
"So tell me something about you."
"I was born in April, I like coffee, I like all music besides heavy metal, I have two brothers and two sisters, and my parents got deported to Mexico. I'm only living with my grandmother who  works at a hair salon. I sometimes go to the salon to help her out by sweeping up hair or something. My mother decided to let me stay here in Californiafor school so I can get a good education. I miss her sometimes."
"Oh wow. I'm sorry. You're a lucky guy to have a mother like that, putting your education as first priority."
"Yeah. I'm making her proud too. I'm an honor student, taking honor classes. "
"Wow. That's awesome."
"Hey Emma, why did you lie, saying that you had a boyfriend?"
"You freaked me out and to be honest, my instincts just kicked in. Besides, I'm not ready for a boyfriend. I've got to focus more on my studies."
"Why do I feel like that's not the reason?"
"I don't know."
"Emma. I could see it in your eyes. Something happened. What is it?"
I sigh.
"When I was in the 7th grade, I dated a few guys. They all used me and tried to get me to have sex with them. I was left broken after the last relationship and I'm afraid to get hurt again. I'm not going into details, but the last relationship was definitely enough to put me into a deep depresssion."
Nick came up to me and hugged me. I tried to push him away.
"Don't. I'm not trying to hit on you right now. You look like you're about to cry. I'm here for you. I had something similar happen to me. I'm here for you."
I stopped trying to push him away. I was shocked that he knew exactly what I was feeling and that he went through something similar to me. I was fighting to hold back tears, but I couldn't stop one tear from escaping me.
"Don't try to hide your feelings. You can cry in front of me. I won't judge you."
I pulled away and wiped away the single tear that was streming down my face.
"Thanks Nick but I'm fine now."
He looked me in the eyes, almost squinting. He pushed some hair out of my face and sat down.
"I really do appreciate your concern, but I can take care of myself."
"I know. Sometimes you need someone's shoulder to cry on."
"I do. My own. No one else."
"I see. Why do you distance yourself from other people?"
"Because I learned that I can't trust anybody but myself. If I fully trust in another person besides myself, I will be betrayed. I learn that in the 7th grade. That was the biggest lesson that I've ever learned."
"Emma..."
I look down and sighed. He put his hand on my knee. I looked up and he was just staring at me.
"This isn't as fun as I thought it would be. Not that I was expecting this to be fun anyway."
"You're not having fun?"
"Nick, we've been talking about personal stuff all lunch so far, I almost cried, and lunch is only half over."
"You've got a point. Do you know how to play?"
He pointed to the piano.
"Yes. I do."
"Could you play something? You came in here everyday at lunch for a month of all places. You seem to really love playing your instruments."
"Yeah. That, and there's a lock on the door. I've spent a lot of time crying in here since you can barely hear anything from the outside."
"I heard you talking to your father yesterday."
"Yeah, but I know you put your ear against the door."
"And how do you know that?"
"Because with the sound proofing on these walls, the thickness of the door, and the amount of people who come in at lunch, you would have to put your ear on the door in order to hear me clearly."
"You got a point and you are right. I found out that you come in here during lunch. I was going to knock but I heard you talking."
"Nick I swear to god..."
"I know I know... I'm being a giant stalker. Anyway, can you play something for me?"
"Sure."
I get up from the chaor and sat on the stool for the piano. I cracked my knuckles and lifted the lid. I looked back to Nick and he smiled. I looked back to the piano and started playing
Cue music
As I was playing, I felt completely blissful. I have never felt so comfortable in a long time. All my troubles were melting away. I completely forgot that Nick was in the room until he clapped the end of the song. I jumped from where I was  sitting and looked behind me. He had a tear in his eye.
"That was beautiful Emma. Where did you learn that?!"
"My father taught me."
"Wow. What's the name of that song?"
"Its Waiting For You by Richard Marx."
"Wow."
The bell rings, signaling for us to go to our last class. I sigh and shot the lid on the piano, get up, and grab my backpack. I turn to Nick.
"Well, I'm going to class."
"Okay. Thanks for giving me a chance, and hanging out with me. We should do this some other time."
"I'll tell you what. Go a full week without creeping me out and we'll hang out alone once a week."
"Deal!"
"Alright. Deal. Anyway, I got to go."
"Bye."
"Bye."
I waved goodbye to him and went to class.

Hey guys. Thank you for reading this chapter. I know what I'm about to say literally has nothing to do with this book or wattpad in general, but LeafyIsHere, my favorite youtuber, moght sue Keemstar. I am sincerely hoping that he does becaise of how Keemstar screwed over so many people and then tries to pull the victim card, which is really complete bullshit and needs to stop. If you are a fan of Keemstar, don't make a big deal. This is merely just my opinion so  don't give me any crap. But as a sidenote, I love you guys and thank you for reading my book, I really do appreciate it. Have a great day or night.
